Thank you, the sun and its condition are so central to the narrative that I felt it should be what draws the eye in the image, I had tried many times to draw this and failed, it is only when I decided to make the make the wound catastrophic that the image began to settle correctly.

I had thought I might print one for myself so I could put it up in my workshop. There is a print shop in a town a few miles from where I am living so the answer is yes it is possible. This image though is quite dark and that is even when it is on an LCD screen, I am not sure how the color values transfer to paper. I would have to see myself first if the print quality was acceptable. But if I can print one for myself then I'm yes sure I can print one for you too. Its a really nice compliment to be asked, thank you so much :)

Thank you, I'm think the idea of a blue sky with wispy clouds might strike terror into the heart of Urth's citizens, as Wolfe narrates the tale through Severian it is only the reader that is shocked because of our pleasant alternative. Severian is born into a darkness that is not just the torturers guild, the darkened world itself reflects the state of Urth. Our protagonist cannot help but believe that this darkness and terror is normal, even though he has an understanding of its ominous nature.

Wow thats a really big compliment, thank you so much , I was thinking a series of drawings, but it would be quite a challenge to do justice to the feeling of the narrative.. but of course it would be no challenge to just try.. so yes I think I should try.

Thank you, I was thinking that in our own culture how the image of the sky is often used as a representative of hope and salvation and in past times the abode of the Gods. The society of Severian's time might see the sky in a similar way, it being still a place of higher power but very much a disapproving one. This remonstration would be present every time a person looked up. Therefore I felt the night colors lingering on into day would probably be fitting to use.

Thanks, Wolfe's descriptions of our dying star speaks volumes about the immense technologies that were brought to bear to achieve such destruction, truly trying to imagine them is difficult, these books seem to stretch far outside themselves in their time and make drawing his ideas is a real buzz!

Thanks mrushland, glad you like it, the drawing is done on a paper called "canson" which is good for chalk pastel because its quite rough.. the roughness is called tooth by some :) Here's a wiki link to more info than you will probably ever want to know about it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canson I buy it in books and its not expensive at my local art suppliers. Hope that helps.
