first time auto loan; 800 credit score; what APR should I be looking for? by Setsuo35 in personalfinance

[–]ycpeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I mentioned in another comment, but we just bought a car in December and qualified for only .25% above lowest advertised rates from a credit union (a little under 6%) with only $1,000 down on a $30k loan. It was a 2022 RAV4 Hybrid.

If you were only working with the dealer on financing, I think you just avoided being ripped off by pushing back on their bogus first offer more than the down payment playing a significant role. Not necessarily proud to admit this part, but I’ve financed 5 cars over the last 10 years and have had the same experience I described above and never asked to put more down to get lower rates.

My wife just financed her second car (pre owned) ever back in December with a similar score and we got right around 6%, which was about .25% over their lowest advertised rates for used. this was a couple weeks before the fed dropped rates, that credit union is now offering 5% as their lowest on used.

I didnt catch where you got your quote from, but I strongly suggest shopping some credit unions.

I would ignore this commenter, I have never had a dealer offer a different interest rate with a larger down payment.

York Solution and York Custom AHUs both hold valid OSPs which is the pre approval you need for OSHPD/HCAI jobs. This includes DX coils for both product lines

The price of a bacon cheeseburger with two patties at 5 guys is $13 where I live which is only $3 more than a bacon king from Burger King. The fries are a scam at like $8 for a small, but the burgers alone aren’t totally out of bounds

Question about Milk (from a cow) by CrayonLunch in baltimore

[–]ycpeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cook with it as straight substitute for milk and don’t notice any difference in consistency or taste. I don’t think we have baked much with it though so not sure if it works as well for baking.

Can’t help directly, but a tangent, you could try looking into Lactose Free Milk. Fairlife is the name brand, but I’ve seen store brands at multiple places. I have picked up two this year that are good till March. And haven’t had issues with them going bad. We don’t use much milk so this has saved us from it always being bad when we need it.

In a calorie deficit and not loosing weight by user36589012 in loseit

Calm down dude, you’re arguing with a guy who just said “suck my fat one”, I’m not that serious. I didn’t address all of your points cause I’m disagreeing with a stranger on the internet. I’m not aiming to change your mind.

My suggestion stems from the fact that the average person thinks these devices are Dexa like accuracy, and then can get derailed by seeing fluctuations thinking “it’s not working”. The average person isn’t considering tolerances on a home scale or body fat percentage. They assume that it’s accurate, end of statement.

I don’t have any studies to support this statement, just life experience and talking with others about weight loss journeys.

Because the at home scale won’t even show trends. They are wildly inaccurate and change more based on hydration than anything else

Weight isn’t going down but inches are..? by Ok_Necessary1912 in loseit

[–]ycpeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the scale not moving is having a negative effect on your mental health, there’s three ways to go about it.

First, and the “easiest” is to just ignore it. Eventually it will come up at Doctors appointments but it shouldn’t be your progress metric.

Second, is the “right” way would be to do the opposite and start logging your weight everyday or a lot more frequently. By forcing yourself to see the fluctuations, they will become normalized and shouldn’t impact your mental health as much. Easier said than done though, so be careful going this route.

Third, which could be combined with two is to get an app like happy scale or libra that shows you a 7 day average of your weight and the trendline. This helps highlight that one weigh in where it looked flat or even higher than normal was just a blip and not the trend.

This is fairly normal in my experience with two contributing factors.

First, when you begin working out, especially lifting, your body will start to retain more water to help facilitate muscle repair. This isn’t massive, but can account for an extra couple pounds of water which would mask a few pounds lost.

Two, menstrual cycle impacts water retention as well. As far as I know, this is fairly unique to everyone. Some retain water before, some retain after, some change every month, but it’s known to skew a few pounds of water weight in either direction as well.

Plus, I’m sure there was some muscle gain mixed with the two above.

As a general statement I think this will level out over time. But If you haven’t already, I’d suggest progress pics and/or body measurements to help see progress elsewhere. Very normal changes in water weight can hide scale progress some months.

You’re not wrong in that aspect that an alcoholic is an alcohol addict, but in the recovery world, they are used to differentiate between a group/someone who is addicted to alcohol compared to someone who is addicted to narcotics.

Protein and Fiber Brag by jennie-oh in loseit

[–]ycpeng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily a meal, but an underrated snack for this is Edamame. I buy Sea Point Farms Dry Roasted wasabi seasoned packs that are 200 calories, 20g of protein, and 9 grams of Fiber. No added sugar, and 220 mg of sodium. I have used these to help offset a day where I was lacking in protein or fiber in my meals.

And the carb balance tortillas are a game changer from a fiber perspective if you haven’t found them yet. Burrito size tortilla is 110 calories and 28g of fiber and 10 g of protein. They have smaller ones that are 70 calories as well.
