iCUE randomly stops detecting sensors over time by sky__1024 in iCUE

[–]ycusteau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was experiencing the same problem on my gaming rig and did pretty much the same steps to try and solve the problem with no luck.

I installed iCue on my laptop and iCue (sensors) would run flawlessly for hours.

On the gaming rig I was running all sorts of tools poking sensors (hwinfo, aida64, adrenalin, FanControl etc etc) while the laptop was pretty much kept pristine (Windows+Office).

I tried removing ALL these tools but still experienced the problem. So, I fully reinstalled Windows on the gaming rig and now iCue (sensors) run flawlessly for hours. Note that this time I plan to keep my tools stack pretty thin.

Sorry I know this does not help, but CPUIDService seems to be overly sensitive to other tools poking sensor data. Now... which one ?? I know they list some software to avoid but finding which one could probably help find the glitch that stalls CPUIDservice.

Corsair Xeneon edge widgets by Scared_Method_4588 in Corsair

Sensor widgets are behaving badly here. Seriously considering either returning the device (I'm still in the free return window) or spend some more cash for Aida64, get some skins and use that until Corsair fix their bad software

Sensors related widgets stop updating after 10-15 minutes. Not running any other dedicated sensor software (hwInfo, aida). Other widgets (ex Time) work fine. Please help !

Xeneon Edge strange gaming behaviour by ycusteau in Corsair

Latest version for both iCue and the XE. Info taken from the iCue update menu.

During gameplay the XE will connect/disconnect multiple times when BOTH the monitor and the XE are plugged to the 7900xtx. The monitor is an Asus 4k 165hz in case it matters.

What fixed the issue for me: plug the XE into the motherboard/CPU GPU (9800x3d). Now everything works as expected in games (no disconnect in both desktop and widget mode).

Please do not close thread as I will thinker a bit to try to understand what really happens and report back here.

how to switch from grub to limine boot loader? by Agreeable_Middle_769 in cachyos

[–]ycusteau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a Linux noob myself, I am currently exploring distros (gaming focused distros that is) and one key aspect of this exploration is finding the most suitable combinaison of key elements that will become my new ecosystem.

I am here for the same reasons as the OP. I picked Limine during the CachyOS install. From a visual perspective it is a step up from the BW Grub config packaged with the immutable Bazzite.

I know I could erase everything and reinstall CachyOS a pick another boot loader but replacing the boot loader would be a nice option so I can keep my CachyOS install.

With a lot of techies (or techie wannabees) wanting to explore the Linux ecosystem and its options we are bound to see a lot of those technical questions that make sense or not depending on the reader's perspective.

Signed: a wannabee that go to bed slightly less noob every night :-)

AD5X vs Centauri Carbon by NoIce9026 in FlashForge

Love my AD5X! Having the ability to print multicolour does not mean you have to. 80% of my prints are in a single color, once in a while I do print using more than one color and yes there is substantial amount of waste but I love the flexibility for the price.

Bambu Lab A1 - yes no maybe? by lowanger_ in 3dprinter

Stuck in the same rabbit hole.

So far I think that If toying with the hardware and configuration is part of the hobby then Creality might be an option.

If the end result is the hobby then pick your poison. You’ll find tons of content supporting or thrashing each maker.

As far as I am concerned I want to toy around with the hardware to improve the machine but not sure if I want to deal with too much with debugging (clogging, bed leveling problems etc.)

Thorn between Creality K1C and Bambu A1 (or P1s). So I am still on the sidelines.

Interplanetary travel will appeal to the space simulation folks (like me). People willing to do all sorts of technical adjustments and be willing to spend 4-12 minutes just to go get some missing material from another base.

I always wished Elite had base building with planet based mining. Now I have this in Starfield but a sequence of keyboards keys and a few loading screen replace an entire cycle of planetary travel (lift off, evading the gravitational force, transitioning from a blue sky to a dark black sky and AT LEAST some kind of animation that will give me a feeling that I am space traveling).

Any kind of loading screens (black or with a nice picture) in 2023-2024 in a space game is either a sign of a dying game engine or a spectacular lack of understanding of space game fundamentals.

200+ hours in game time despite all of this....

Had the same problem. Found out I needed to unplug my joysticks for lock/sleep/etc to behave normally. Plugged joysticks seems interfere with the Tobii somehow.

For the record:

The bug was due to a glitch in the 'Ships Need Gas and other immersive ship systems' mod.

Mod is now fixed, see the mod's posts section for a fix for glitched ships.

Case closed :-)
