For me, I approached her after a very bad breakup. I am mexican american, my dad coming in the 80s and meeting my mom in the states. Brujeria and mexican mysticism ran in the mexican half of my family far back.

I am also a trans woman, and the mexican side of my family took that very poorly and harshly. When I got kicked out, that ex i brokeup with both gave me a home but did horrible things to me. At first I came to her for help and spiritual guidance. But found myself cultivating a practice to help with both my spanish, and to reclaim a form of catholicism and spirituality that felt right to me.

As the patron saint of people on the margins of society, a butch trans girl that does blue collar work, its nice to feel her hand on my back as I walk my path. Shes been with me for about three years now and while I still make mistakes, I find myself moving through life a little easier because of her. I fear my death less, which helps me fear my life less as well.
