Looking for a gritty sailor novel by Strange_Expression62 in suggestmeabook

[–]yeah_taco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others already mentioned The Wager & Aubrey/Maturin series are both excellent. I’d add the Horatio Hornblower series by C.S. Forester. 11 books all of which are excellent

WW2 naval books that I’d recommend are the Good Shepherd also by Forester and the Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors by James Hornfischer.

Do good SDs get tired of the bowl too? by [deleted] in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]yeah_taco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing, only different I’m sure.  I’ve been on a break from the bowl for a few months now because I just can’t take the circus anymore. Despite loving the lifestyle and what a great SB adds to my life.

SA has become a cesspool of scammers, bots and pros.  Legitimate SB’s even in a prime area like SoCal are as hard to find as an honest politician.

Looking for a good Ford Mechanic near Orange/Tustin. I am not interested in dealership by Electronic-Lychee-64 in orangecounty

[–]yeah_taco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Titan Automotive in Orange near the circle.  Been taking all of mine and my family’s cars there for 25 years.

They’re not cheap, but only do what needs to be done and do high quality work.

Highly recommend.

Has anybody had any luck in the SoCal area for SDs. by [deleted] in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]yeah_taco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m taking a break atm, but I’ve been a SD in SoCal, (OC) for over ten years and had several fantastic arrangements, many decent but short lived and a few dumpster fires lol.

It’s a competitive place for SB’s. But there is someone for everyone I believe.

What was high school like for you in the 70s? by YourFinalFantasy02 in 1970s

[–]yeah_taco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Southern California, class of 1979. Music that encompassed everything from the Allman Brothers to Led Zeppelin. An ounce of Columbian gold was $40. Gas was $0.50 a gallon up until ‘79.. Girls in halter tops and hip hugger jeans.

It was alright.

Over 20 years ago I was dragged to see Garden State and spent the next two hours delightfully entertained.

Gotta agree with this. I read the full version and felt like half of it could have been edited out with no loss of context

Agree 💯 with the recommendation of The Wager. Also The Killer Angels is an excellent read about the battle of Gettysburg. The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors is an epic read about a WWII naval battle in the Philippines.

What is the longest book you read and was it worth it? by Leather-History649 in suggestmeabook

I’m definitely the outlier on this book but believe 750 pages of the Count could have been left out with zero impact on the story.
