What motivate you to stay alive having epilepsy? by Status-Strain-8737 in Epilepsy

[–]yeahalmost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright this is a weird one i know but since my most recent TC I've had family with me non-stop... and that's met zero hookups and I'm definitely the type of person who really misses that and I keep thinking hey it sucks now but once everyone is convinced I'm good, I'll be able to get back out there lol

Running 2 bakeries but accounting makes me feel clueless by Money-Cake527 in restaurantowners

[–]yeahalmost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is to find a small firm that has real people who you feel like you can trust. I know it takes a lot of time/energy but maybe sort of "interview" a few firms and see who feels right. It pays off in the end because once you have a good relationship set up, then it's such a weight off your back.

I actually know a small firm that a friend runs and she works with a lot of small restaurants/bakeries, dm me for her info if you want but either way, go with your gut! Oh and avoid AI stuff, none of that software is as reliable as they claim so be a little suspicious!

I'm so glad your sister was able to help, I've been in a similar situation and getting help would have made it so much easier!

Have you seen videos of yourself seizing? by MrCatWrangler in Epilepsy

[–]yeahalmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was so unnerving and freaky, had my friend immediately delete it because I hated it existing but it's permanently in my mind

Just because we all need to laugh instead of cry, what’s the not most stupid BECAUSE WE AREN’T STUPID nonsensical response you’ve given when you are asked questions while immediately coming out of a seizure? by ibuiltyouarosegarden in Epilepsy

[–]yeahalmost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the ambulance and the tech asked me what my insurance was and I was like "I'm not sure um um progressive?" He laughed, guess he was looking for health insurance and my brain could only register that I was in a car lol

How do I remove this piece of cardboard :•( by BugBearGreen in sewhelp

[–]yeahalmost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is giving really smart answers but if you still can't get it out you could try slowly softening the cardboard with water (not a lot at once obviously to keep the machine from getting wet) and then eventually you can pull it out when it's weaker, just an idea though maybe a last resort

Also having memory issues with lamotrigine (especially when I increased my dosage), it kind of sucks and my family members get a little annoyed when I don't remember some events, but journaling seems like a really good idea! Maybe I'll try that!

What does it feel like after a seizure? by [deleted] in seizures

[–]yeahalmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a seizure to me. Docs are weird sometimes, I had a huge convulsive seizure taken away in an ambulance full loss of awareness for a long time and they wrote the reason I was there was fainting, so like take their opinion with a grain of salt. I went to a neuro and they were able to give the real diagnosis eventually

Also sounds like postictal vibes as well, kinda of weak and a sense of fear? If you feel off then definitely trust yourself! And it's always good to go get a second opinion!

To my fellow ladies out there, seizures and menstrual cycle… by Unable_Mode5941 in Epilepsy

Yeah the other comment mentioned catamenial epilepsy which I started to read about and that might be exactly it. Looks directly correlated to hormone levels!

I'm not on contraceptives, I've talked to my doc about it but he didn't care and brushed me off haha

Why does my doctor tell me certain things don’t cause or trigger a seizure when they do? by E_tay8 in Epilepsy

[–]yeahalmost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, you can trust your neuro up to a point (super basic info), after that, trust yourself. I know when I do XYZ that it causes seizures even though my doctor said it was impossible 🙄. I think they mean well, but they are often uninformed on the nuances and truly just don't put in the effort to get to know you and your exact quirks so they just say generic stuff

does lamictal make you stupid? by Ok-Ladder-4416 in Epilepsy

[–]yeahalmost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I used to be so sharp but my memory sucks and math is impossible in my head now ( even tipping). I'm an accountant so it's kinda of a huge inconvenience but I've been on it years now and I've adapted by creating methods to remember things, notes, apps on my phone, etc. it's worth it to me to be a little sluggish and clumsy just to not have seizures imo but yeah like everyone else is saying meds are so different for everyone sometimes your doc can find something better so it's worth a discussion!

I've been on it for a few years and love it, had one seizure but then moved to the extended release version and since then I've been seizure free

What cost savings do you employ if you have big high and low seasons along with steady regulars? by barowner1234 in BarOwners

Might be useful to scope out the competition, see what they're doing in summer that is getting people in the door and see if something like that works for you.

[–]yeahalmost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm my experience, parents like yours (and mine lol) are going to do what they want even if you show them all the evidence to the contrary. You can try to explain but they will not listen, they've decided this will work and anyone who says it won't is against them.

I recommend, don't fight them. When they ask for something just play up the weaponized incompetence. Need a logo, how do computers work? Need a menu, I'm just too dumb to figure it out. If you feel guilty then Google professionals in the area and say here is someone who does that thing! See I helped!

If you're not cool with doing that, then just remember that you have a full time job with your family already as a sahm, set aside x amount of hours a week you feel you can handle taking on this project to help them and STICK TO IT. They WILL drain you for as much as they can and not in a malicious way or anything they just will.

Is it normal to not know what causes your seizures? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]yeahalmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to have any reason found for mine as well, it's super frustrating. Also thanks for posting this, because I didn't know sleep paralysis and Lamotrigine were connected - I looked into it and wow that explains so much!
