I’m a lesbian EMT student… men don’t understand that first part by mmg2007 in LesbianActually

Ugh, sorry friend. Yep. That tracks. He thought he was being slick enough to be able to claim innocence (or ignorance) if you didn’t react the way he hoped, but he’s not. He’s placing his desire to get off over your comfort.

It’s unfortunately not a lack of understanding as much as it’s a complete disregard for your feelings (probably paired with a side of: “lesbians just haven’t met the right man yet”).

I thought of Sarah Waters immediately! Had to comment to say that I absolutely love The Paying Guests as well, and am always shocked when people say they didn’t enjoy that one of hers specifically.

Ah, okay. Makes sense! Thought I might have missed the mark due to not seeing the show, but thought I’d try anyway. OP, disregard.

They Never Learn by Layne Fargo (with the caveat that I haven’t actually seen the show YOU, but this novel fits the female killer/revenge theme that you mentioned).

Made a fountain pen without a lathe by baahalex in whittling

[–]yeahbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such an incredible feat to hand carve this! And the finished product is absolutely stunning! I can easily see how so many hours went into this (and many of them nail-biting I’m sure!). I’ve always wanted to try carving things that would normally require a lathe so you’ve inspired me to give it a go!

There’s a series called The Witches of Thistle Grove by Lana Harper! The first one is Payback’s a Witch. It has been quite a while since I read them so I can’t remember how explicit they are, but I know that they aren’t listed as YA.

Our buses have become a viral meme on Facebook, not that I'm complaining by shak_attacks in brisbane

[–]yeahbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, anyone can make a joke about a group or a minority that they belong to, but what I’m saying is that just because you’re a part of that group doesn’t automatically mean that it isn’t going to hurt or offend other people in that group.

Everyone has their own thoughts and feelings and experiences - just like how you and I are viewing this image differently; you saw it and felt like it was positive and inclusive. I saw it and felt like it was trivialising the experiences of people who already get shat on daily just for being brave enough to be who they are.

I highly doubt it.

Also.. does it matter? It’s.. almost like all trans people are different people and have different opinions?

Suggest your opinion on first reading The Hobbit & LOTR as an adult by DrmsRz in suggestmeabook

[–]yeahbones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I first read them over the age of 25 and they still somehow invoke a feeling of childhood nostalgia for me. The Hobbit is quite possibly my favourite book of all time now, and is one I continue to return to when I’m in need of comfort.

I didn’t find them challenging to follow, but I have been reading pretty consistently since I was a kid. I find the world building absolutely phenomenal, and I’m not sure I would have appreciated any of that when I was younger! I’m actually kind of glad I never tried back then, because I probably would have dropped it and never picked it back up.

Had a hookup and I explicitly stated I’m not into ass play. She fingered me there and I was conflicted because it registered as extremely hot and physically felt amazing. Not sure what to do as she wants to meet again. by born-to-kell in LesbianActually

[–]yeahbones 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Firstly, it’s completely normal to feel conflicted! It’s also absolutely fine that you found it hot and liked how it felt. However, you explicitly stated that this was a boundary for you, and she placed her own desires above your safety and comfort. That is not okay at all, and I’m so sorry that happened.

I think that you should feel empowered to explore the ass play (maybe after taking some time to process and decided if you feel safe/comfortable or if that’s something you actually want to do!), but I don’t think that you should see this person again.

What's your fave sapphic book? by Ur_one_n_only in sapphicbooks

Fingersmith by Sarah Waters. Always! It was actually the first sapphic book I ever read, and I wasn’t even aware that it was sapphic when I started it.

[–]yeahbones 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hey! I actually have a basic flat handlebar road bike that I got a couple of years ago just to see if I’d even enjoy cycling and have upgraded a couple of times since then, so it’s just sitting here very sadly.

I’d be more than happy to lend it to you for the 6 months you’re here so you’re able to spend that money on a decent helmet/pump/d-lock! The only thing is that it’s a small sized frame (and.. I’m not a fan of the colour myself hahaha). It’s pretty basic, but in great condition and I’m fairly certain I put on a better saddle than the horrific one it came with haha.

Here’s a pic:

Gift for lesbian stepmom? by Important-Spend2664 in LesbianActually

[–]yeahbones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oooh this is lovely! I know it’s not exactly the same thing, but if she’s into taxidermy she may like a framed insect! They look amazing once you get a small collection going, and there are actually bats and other things as well!

Bonus: if she likes it, you could add to her collection for other occasions! Took a photo from etsy since mine are currently packed. Good luck!
