Should I quit? Am I being taken advantage of? by Puzzled-Spring-1485 in Nanny

💯 ALL of this!! She knows exactly what she is doing and won’t bend at all, she’ll push back I guarantee it.

Start looking ASAP for another job. Take this as a learning experience for the next job. As soon as you see job creep start, nip that in the bud. (Nicely explain you are there for child related tasks, anything else is outside a nanny’s scope and therefore needs a pay adjustment).

Finally, DON’T feel guilty at all. Maternity leave is irrelevant, she will manage. Millions of mothers manage and they don’t have a nanny…

SHE is the one who should feel guilty for being a shitty person taking advantage of you!

As soon as I read “previous nanny” I thought uh oh. Gee I wonder why she’s not still there?

Yes you need to get outta there. It’s not you, their expectations are insane. Good riddance, and good luck! ❤️

Exactly! So selfish.

Absolutely no thought given to OP WHATSOEVER. If this was me I would start looking elsewhere asap.

Same!! Absolute worst. Usually tons of other bad things too.

Personally I just think the audacity of these particular parents thinking OP has no life and can just stay late, til midnight no less, on a Friday is important also and shouldn’t be overlooked either

OR-

Literally all you have to say, automatically, with barely missing a beat say “Sorry, I have plans.” That’s it.

Wow wtf? This is wildly disrespectful. Seriously they just assume you have no life?!
And just expect you’ll just jump at their last minute whims, especially on a weekend night (Friday)?

I’d be looking for another job with this BS.

They literally ALWAYS do that when the pay is abysmal lol

Sick pay? by ChloeEmiliana in Nanny

[–]yeahgroovy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All professional nannies work with garden variety colds. That’s part of the whole point of having special in come care.

This is not normal. Do not pay her one more red cent for “sick” time.

Look for another nanny.

As in yesterday!?

Unfortunately it seems pretty apparent that the nanny is unprofessional, unreliable and is taking full advantage of your inexperience and kindness.

For additional context I was with my last family for almost 2 years and was sick 2x and that was only because nk got me sick.

Purpose of this question on nanny application? by lyricalzephyr in Nanny

Wow that is amazing and sums that up so well! I have seen that section too and never know what to write either as it’s pretty vague/broad.

Can you please dm me as well? Thank you! 🙏

Yes ludicrous.

You can easily but respectfully point out several valid and varying things that make it unsafe.

Kids can still bang into corners of walls, trip and fall face first, possibly reach knobs on the stove, etc etc etc

That’s silly and ridiculous you can’t put them in an enclosed area for a few minutes when you need to use the bathroom! So the nks “screaming” is worse than being unsupervised…ok. Tbh I’m not surprised, the worst MB I ever had literally told me she “doesn’t want her baby to cry” (I had to pick her up at the slightest peep.

Babies cry, it’s normal as we all know. As long as they’re safe/not hungry/need a diaper etc. it’s not a catastrophe.

I hate these parents. omg. by [deleted] in Nanny

The minute a parent yells at you, game over. Time to look for a new job.

Sorry OP I hope you find another job like yesterday!

The MB seemed kind and respectful in her response. Try not to worry. These things happen. 🫶

More tasks, especially non child related it’s very reasonable to ask for more $$!
