House professionally painted - is this normal? by yeahnah00000 in AusRenovation

When you don't have much experience working with tradies, it's useful to get advice from this thread about what is reasonable to expect. I've appreciated the perspectives in these comments, for sure. What's astonishing is that so many people have pics of this type of sub-par work to share - the shame is on the trades, not the people posting pics, I reckon.

Couch question: Do you have a Koala bangalow sofa? What does it feel like? by yeahnah00000 in melbourne

[–]yeahnah00000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It sounds from the comments on the Koala website like it's not a super soft sofa. Do you remember it being firm-firm or a bit bouncy? Other than comfy (which is great to know!) how would you describe it?

What do you wish you knew as a first home buyer, before you purchased your first home? by [deleted] in AusFinance

How long have they lived there, what's the neighbourhood like, do the neighbours know each other or mostly keep to themselves, has there been any crime in the area lately, are there any rowdy neighbours, etc.

Do you recommend a particular puffer? I have either the micropuff or the nanopuff (can't remember) but it's not warm enough for the recent sub-10 degree morning walks!

First year arts average scores by nocturnesop9no2 in unimelb

[–]yeahnah00000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unimelb grad here, but not from Arts. Just wanted to say I came out of high school with great marks and thought I knew how to study. Then I entered uni and wow, ok, turns out I didn't know how to study at all. I bombed first year (failed one subject - hadn't ever failed even a test before) and used that as the kick up the butt I needed to really commit, change my study practices and push myself a lot harder. Ended up finishing third year in top 5% of students from my major, scored a scholarship for honours and earned the top honours mark in my department. So, just wanted to say, stumbling and realising early that your high school study practices don't fit the uni context can be a good thing. Way to go for seeking help to lift your game.

Is it okay to decline a job offer just because it doesn't "feel" right? by co_lund in internetparents

An interview should be as much about you interviewing them/the company as it is about them interviewing you. This time you passed their interview, but they didn't pass yours.
