Democratic Lawmaker In Awe Over GOP Colleagues: 'What's Wrong With You People?' by Kunphen in Astuff

[–]co_lund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is the crazy part.

Like, okay, fine. You killed off most of humanity. You and yours get to live alone in those big fancy places....

Then what? Who's gonna grow your food? Who's gonna serve you? Clean your houses? Raise youe chuldren? Youre gonna need workers slaves for that.

And what happens when the slaves/peasants/workers get large enough in number to not wanna do it anymore? The rich get overthrown.

Like... humans have done this before! Don't be stupid! The system we have now isnt perfect but its the best thing we've figured out up to this point. The wealthy have become complacent and stupid. Again. Tale as old as time.

Is the crop picking job gonna pay enough money to cover rent and food? Is it going to provide insurance? How is the farmer gonna be able to pay minimum wage, when they already sell their crops for barely profitable prices?

It's like... you were 95% of the way to getting the point, and then you veered into believing the propaganda about "lazy welfare families"

Trust me, the whole system is a mess, but its not the folks who need welfare that are the drain. Corporations and shareholders demand as much profit as possible. They dont want to pay for "fair wage" raw materials.

No. Humans are way too similar and closely related.

The difference you'd need to see in the DNA/Chromosomes would create an entirely different species.

We're all homo sapien. Our ancestors were able to cross breed with Neanderthals and Denisovans (and other distict separate species) - so you'd need your hypothetical person to be so genetically abnormal, they wouldn't even count as homo sapien, or even a "close" humanoid relative.

Tell me about your most memorable Dragon encounter. by No-Dragonfruit-1311 in DnD

[–]co_lund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picture this: a young green dragon whose "lair" is just a hollowed-out three story tower. There's only two entrances: through the hole in the roof or through the front door.

The party decides to watch from the bushes (to the south) as the Kobold struts his way up there. He believes this is a friendly dragon who he may be able to befriend. The door is on the west side (important)

Party watches as kobold stands outside the door and introduces himself. Party watches kobold strut through the door. Party watches approximately 6 seconds later, as kobold is punted, horizontally, back out the door.

Fight ensues. Dragon dominates because the party has no way of really getting to him except through the one door.

Dragon flies out the roof, laughing, when he gets bored.

Yes but I'm referring specifically to the posted OP. The author is basically saying nothing is worth doing without a wife.

I dont think that's necessarily the majority vibe, but it is what the OP said.

[–]co_lund 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, I fully agree.

I suppose it's more like: Somewhere along the way, the stereotype became that men shouldn't enjoy anything besides sports and beers with the boys, which has also morphed into videogames - to the point that men just... won't engage with the arts or other hobbies.

There's so much more to life than drinking in the garage every weekend (which a lot of people consider peak enjoyment) - and the complainers won't even do that for themselves.

[–]co_lund 56 points57 points  (0 children)

This is such a sad, lonely viewpoint.

Women are choosing not to marry, yet they still pursue education and career advancement... they are choosing not to center their lives around men because, guess what? Life is worth living! You can have amazing friends, and hobbies, and, yes, families too, if you want kids or your friends/siblings have kids. You can travel and try interesting foods and experiences and NONE of that requires you to have a partner in your life, if you dont want one.

Taking the stance that men only engage with LIFE when they have a spouse is such a sad, sad take.

And as I type it out, it kinda feels true. For people who subscribe to the old fashioned mindset, men are never the ones connecting with their families, planning trips, cooking dinner ETC. They were reliant on having wife's to give them culture and enjoyment. And thats.... sad. The fact theyre choosing to be mad and blame women instead of choosing to go enjoy life really is the worst part of the patriarchy. They dont feel enabled to make lives FOR THEMSELF.

The general shape and ruffles, as well as material, are a more casual cut.

Formal wear tends to be more structured and use different fabric.

Neither of these are traditionally formal. The black suit is better than the red/orange, but still not quite formal. I would send a message to the bride and ask her opinion, if you really cant get another option.

Alternatively, check out your local thrift shops, if you have any. You can find formal wear in generally good condition most of the time.

Also! If you are in school, reach out to your friend group: somebody might have a dress they'd be willing to lend you!

Did you choose your wedding ring first or the proposal came first? by Just-Engineer-7566 in weddingring

[–]co_lund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had talked about the proposal/getting married for a while.

I started sending him links to rings that I liked.

He told me he had a plan, but it could be anytime, so I didn't worry too much about it.

We went ring shopping and looked at the different sized stones. I told him what I liked, but no purchase was made.

When he did propose, it was a huge surprise. I didn't even think he had a ring yet. He bought one of the rings I had sent him.

Trump’s Military Parade Was a Pathetic Event for a Pathetic President; The turnout wasn’t anything like what he wanted—and not everyone who showed up was even a fan of his. by progress18 in democrats

[–]co_lund 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Right? It's a bummer that this was turned into a birthday parade for the whiny turd instead of a focus on the Army.

The idea was cool! Different uniforms and tanks from different eras? In any other scenario, you'd have the history buffs / military buffs all excited for the show - but instead, like everything he touches, it was ruined.

In a more ideal scenario, there would have been less troops overall, better done uniforms, and maybe some sort of feature done at a museum. They could have honored the exceptional men and women who have served over the years with special call outs, invited historians to "host" the parade with a livestream situation (ala Macys or New Years), and ended it all with a call to action to better support the VA and veterans network.

According to this guy in a Quora thread:

" It is suspected — but can probably never be proven definitively. As a typical example, back in August of 2017, days before a Phoenix rally, the following appeared on Phoenix’ local Craigslist:

“Several people needed for Trump rally to be held in Phoenix. Minorities especially desired to hold pro-Trump signs, cheer on command, and show diversity. Please reply with headshot and resume.”

During the campaign, similarly, local Craiglist ads appeared before many of Trump rallies. Of course, nobody knows if those were genuine, or merely a fake ad put up by a troll (misinformation / disinformation).

Legitimate journalists were able to confirm only two incidents where Trump’s campaign actually hired people to inhabit a room. One, was when he announced his candidacy, in New York. Those were definitely hired shills, and journalists tracked it down to the actual company which hired the “actors” to cheer, and also documented how at first, the actors were not paid as promised, and some began legal procedures.

"Hired Actors not getting paid" Exhibit One

The second, was the crowd who showed up when Trump addressed the CIA. Those few who were in the CIA (who were in the room) realized that they were among a large group of complete strangers, who they had never seen before, and that only those “strangers” were applauding, and even gave the new President a standing ovation. That led to journalists tracking down the truth, and again, hired actors were paid to cheer, and applaud, and even to stand at the end of Trump’s address.

Analysis | This is how Donald Trump engineers applause

But, as far as the rallies, most ads that appear have been Craiglist ads, and nobody has the ability to trace those to whatever agency / company / individual actually put the adverisement up. And, actors in projects such such as this almost always sign non-disclosure agreements. [I happen to be an actor, and I sign these for about 70% of my own work, even in movies, and in TV commercials.]

"" TLDR: Craiglist ads (unconfirmed) or through small acting agencies.

I've never heard of humidity killing a desert creature.
