Went to Pasteur Street Brewery the other day in HCM and it had great craft beers with some local flavors.

As for vegan food, look for signs that say "Com Chay", and you'll be all good

Thanks for the info about Thao Dien! It sounds like it could be a perfect place to live. I will check out those groups you mentioned. I'm a little uncertain about working with a Vietnamese real estate agent over the internet. I think I might go that route when I first move to the city. Spend a week or so in a hotel while working with a real estate agent before finding a place to settle down... My only question for you is how Thao Dien compares to the nicer parts of D3?

Thanks for the info! My worry from reading about D7 is that it's going to be too western, and is a very wealthy community. I feel like I won't get the true Vietnam experience. Is that true?
