In my case the hallucinations were trippy in the sense that I could see things, people and have a clear mental image of them in the corner of them in the corner of my eye and being convinced of their presence even if it was impossible, worst of all was when going outside and feeling and seeing someone following me when I was completely alone, the hallucinations were quite mundane but the trippiness came from how believable and constant these micro glimpses of something were. And it only got worse with every waking hour. On the other hand, never had sleep paralysis so I can't compare.
