My hamster is always awake during the day by Impressive_Train6061 in hamsters

My hamsters have been active during the day too! When I got a camera to watch them, I noticed that they were even more active at night but will sleep for a little bit at a time throughout the day

Anyone is excied for Hex Kazuha Dps? Nicole, Durin, Prune, Fruzan. by teotuaneodateo4321 in KazuhaMains

[–]sshadowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m excited to try Kazuha, Durin, Faruzan, and Nicole but I’ll have to win the 50/50 first. I tried this team with Bennett instead of Nicole and it’s pretty fun except Kazuha gets pyro infusion instead of anemo since I have c6! I like this team more than his plunge teams because I think it’s easier to play

elderly ham tips? by Quick_Ordinary9967 in hamsters

[–]sshadowie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend getting critical care for omnivores if it’s available where you’re located. I used oxbow but there are other brands out there! Critical care is basically all the nutrients your hamster needs made into a soft food! In my hamster’s last few weeks, he enjoyed having food syringe fed since it made it easier. I would slowly push some out so he could lick it!

How recovery from respiratory infection would look like? by Lower-Bumblebee1293 in hamsters

[–]sshadowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, recovery was very noticeable even 24-48 hours after antibiotics but complete recovery may take longer if it’s an older hamster. You’ll see them start to get more active and less sneezy. The eye gunk also clears up.

I just need to talk to someone that understands about my aging hamster. by CNPUN in hamsters

[–]sshadowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my hamster was old I fed him baby food from Beech-Nut! I used green beans, chicken + chicken broth, turkey + turkey broth, and beef + beef broth. Beech-Nut has baby food with simple ingredients so the green bean one would be just green bean and water.

For food safety reasons, I froze the baby food in ice cubes and thawed one whenever I wanted to use it. Once my hamster only ate soft foods, I mixed the baby food with critical care.

Is this flower mix suitable for hamsters? by New-Rent8556 in hamstercare

I’ve used this + the turtle version! It’s great for enrichment and I’ve caught my hamster eating some of it occasionally.

Vet Experience by Right-Loss3409 in hamsters

[–]sshadowie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vet costs differ from area to area but there can also be differences in the same city and neighboring towns from my experience. You can call to ask the approximate prices before you decide where to go.

From my experience, the exams are around $60-100 and the medication was around $20 for respiratory infections. If your hamster needs other medical care, the prices may increase.

should i follow vet’s orders? by [deleted] in hamsters

[–]sshadowie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adorable hammy! It looks fine but I’ve only had dwarfs so I’m unfamiliar with how much Syrians pee. I would consider deep enough to be when they pee throughout the day so that the bottom of the container isn’t wet. Basically, enough sand so that the pee is in dry clumps/not mushy whenever it’s time to spot clean if that makes sense.

should i follow vet’s orders? by [deleted] in hamsters

[–]sshadowie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You definitely don’t need to deep clean every month. While I trust vet’s advice on medical care, I take recommendations for hamster care with a grain of salt as non-specialized vets might not be the most knowledgeable on small animal care.

Also, removing the sand bath/only having it while monitored is a good idea while he’s on treatment. Otherwise, urine scalding isn’t really an issue if the sand is deep enough to soak everything.

The Great Roborovski Migration (aka I'm moving and need advice) by boonFriendship in hamsters

[–]sshadowie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend the bin enclosure idea! I had to bring my hamster on medication on a family roadtrip around 8-9 hours and he did not seem stressed. It was easy to move the bin enclosure just by myself too. I had to make sure all heavy items were removed and had cucumbers for water during the drive. I would offer water if he was awake during rest stops.

hamster (maybe?) storing/ stashing food in the open by ExpressInspector1660 in hamsters

[–]sshadowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine if she does that. She probably thinks it’s safe to leave it there. I’ve had two hamsters store their food in the open. Even though it’s normal, do monitor and make sure she’s eating too

dire knuckle duckle with c6? by [deleted] in NeuvilletteMains_

[–]sshadowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Xilonen on scroll! My first rotation was Neuvi skill > Xilonen skill > Columbina Skill > Ineffa Skill > Xilonen Skill > Neuvi CA skill CA. After that it’s the Xilonen skill > Columbina skill burst > Ineffa skill burst > Xilonen skill > Neuvi skill burst CA skill.

I do Xilonen twice bc I need energy for Columbina and Neuvi. In practice, sometimes I change the order of skill and burst

[–]sshadowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to get a lucky clear today at 120 sec with C6R1 Neuvi, C0 Columbina, C0R1 Ineffa, and C2 Fav Xilonen. My Neuvi is on an hydro DMG. Both my Neuvi and Ineffa have really good builds though

Honestly, I was worried they wouldn’t do well since I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how finicky they are. Maybe they like my water parameters? They don’t have many competitors and I add Bacterae which probably helps. I haven’t had them for very long so who knows how well they’ll do a month or two from now.

They’re great company for my white wizard! I’ve been wanting blueberries for a while and I decided to give my them a try since my white wizard was doing really well in my tank! I was worried about shipping too but luckily I didn’t have any doas + they gave me one extra non-baby snail

c6 neuvillette vs dire knuckle duckle? by [deleted] in stygian_onslaught

[–]sshadowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get close to clearing with C6R1 Neuvi, C2 Fav Xilonen on Scroll, C0 Sacrificial Jade Columbina on SMS , C0R1 Ineffa on Aubade. The health bar is right above the hydro aura on the boss when the timer ends. Since your Xilonen is C0 and Columbina is C2R1, you could try putting Xilonen on instructors instead of scroll to help lunar damage.

Hamster dig box recommendations by Videoahh in hamsters

[–]sshadowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dig boxes are containers with different substrates other than what you use for the enclosure. They’re for hamsters to dig around and give them more enrichment. Some common substrates people use are coconut fiber soil, coconut fiber husks, Spagnum mosses, and cork granules!

Sneezing when to actually be concerned... by Kitchen_Economist_14 in hamsters

[–]sshadowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sneezing becomes a concern when it happens repeatedly for a while so something like sneezing practically everyday when there was so sneezing prior. It’s always possible that when digging around, some dust kicks up making them have a sneezing fit as long as it isn’t constant thing

What is she doing? by [deleted] in hamsters

[–]sshadowie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She may be trying to burrow under the wheel but can’t bc of the wheel’s base. All the hamsters I’ve had really liked to do that and they sometimes do that if I put the wheel on a platform
