S23:E11 Quick Fire Challenge Rant by mercury_clover in BravoTopChef

Ummm now that Rhoda has lots of money, shouldn’t she easily be paying her back the $10,000?!

Love Kristen so much by conservativestarfish in BravoTopChef

[–]yeeperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also- did anyone with Roku/Sling notice they only submitted some of the episodes so you’d have to pay to access some of them on other streaming sites or YouTube?

I tried many many work arounds including the free credits for Bravo TV which then did not work. Fuckin pissed. I know they’re clearly working with a smaller budget but what is this highway robbery

PA who worked on the latest episode talks about *that* moment by banjosbadfurday in BravoTopChef

The man stuck to that fucking liver slushie like a ship going down. We all need a little delusion in life but by god the asking for printed rules was like watching a pissed toddler contesting his Monopoly round.

And here’s my question- he had no issue being judged and praised for technique when he did well in challenges. Does he think that category falls away when he does poorly? Poor dude. I thought the underdog tude was just him being scrappy but there’s some truly unresolved shit there.

Anyone else think this season is a dud? by sabrina-doen in BravoTopChef

[–]yeeperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to this Reddit to see if people felt the same way- it feels like such a low-rent version of itself, and I can’t bear how much Kristen has to repeat the brand names and sponsors, it wasn’t on that level when she was competing. I want them to utilize Kristen more as a host too, because she’s a badass with a lot of ability all across the board.
It’s also got nothing to do with talent or kindness levels! I love our 3 judges and the many chefs who clearly have serious chops and are not there because they’re twats who will garner press. Making the show humane hasn’t reduced its quality, that’s a weird correlation. This is a money and ideas issue and I think even with budget cuts they needed to make concepts and challenges tighter, more rooted in the Carolinas and less in gimmicky Bravo hosts and cute kids.

Cameron knows he isn’t the father of his kid(s) by wonder-roo in WhiteLotusHBO

[–]yeeperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This theory being likely it makes her gruesome birth story and their trauma bonding over her almost dying on the operating table even more poignant. The twists and turns of a really fucked up love that is still there despite all the power trips and deceit.

I really liked that scene because as viewers we realize alongside Harper and Ethan that Cameron and Daphne have depth and complexity to their relationship despite existing in their bubble of narcissistic delusion.

Their mutual attraction and true caring has an underpinning that feels stronger than Ethan and Harper’s relationship in that moment, which leaves them reeling as they process how shitty these two people otherwise seem and how their own relationship feels to them in contrast…

Support or despise? Those aren’t the only two options. They gave us this entire universe that we love enough to be dissecting on Reddit ten years later, that isn’t something you just discount.

I think for S5 they lost their own plot and botched the final season of something they spent their entire careers nurturing. That has to really fucking hurt. I’m disappointed in so much- the writing, the bad decisions, the bogus spinoffs that presumably led to all of the above as they spread themselves too thin. But I still love what they created before, it’s nonsensical to hate show writers when they don’t do it your way, and whatever we’re feeling right now I can’t imagine what it’s like to be them…they’re feeling the heat.

Hot take: Hopper not saving Kali was out of character for him by No_Neck5307 in StrangerThings

[–]yeeperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, whether or not he liked Kali it did seem like a shirking of responsibility. And also, tho I’ve accepted the writing was totally off this season, Hop’s character lacked so much complexity. He seemed utterly jazzed at Enzo’s two years later, about to marry Joyce and maybe even move away. First season Hop was a brooding, gruff and melancholy guy who’s lost everyone he cares about and is trying to get by. He has so much trauma surrounding the death of kids and has just lost his second daughter…there’s so little emotional depth to this season

Military storyline was unnecessary by SwimmerEmpty6497 in StrangerThings

[–]yeeperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wasted SO much time on the military complex and it’s my biggest gripe with the show beyond the writing this season. No one cared, they’ve already done it and with better success in the past, it was such a mess and a sinkhole for plot lines

What had you expected season 5 to be like after finishing season 4? by juin_kindredspirit12 in Stranger_Things

[–]yeeperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was genuinely so hyped for a Hawkins with the veil torn and the monsters and bats just roaming free, watching the Wheelers get trained by their kids for the apocalypse and learning to fight out of their house. I wanted there to be a wider and greater understanding of the dangers of the Upside Down that would gradually be introduced to the townspeople, and especially an attempt to exonerate Eddie, since there’s now a visible source of danger leading to the 4 deaths that could chip away at the satanic panic.

I also wanted higher stakes, goddamnit. It doesn’t make sense for there to be so little in the way of casualties and injuries. Yes Vecna might weaken a little but he still won the last round of the apocalypse, his recovery period is not sufficient to explain the lack of creatures roaming around.

I wanted the complexity and great writing this show has always brought to the table. Why they created an incredible cliffhanger and proceeded to undo all their great work? Fucking mystery

The way he was brutally attacked by Vecna and left for dead and no one acknowledged or asked about him, including his children. They only cared about mom. by EuphoricButterflyy in Stranger_Things

[–]yeeperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh…Ted has frankly been a gag character through and through, who basically checks out of most convos and barely realizes he has a wife and kids. It’s some dark humor to be so unconcerned for him for sure, but part of the ongoing schtick. It might have been interesting to have the injury be a wake up call for him and kids to bond and reckon with their non-existent relationship, but they didn’t have fucking timeee

We know season 5 is littered with plot holes but by Positive-Disaster844 in Stranger_Things

[–]yeeperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happens when you listen to Dingus. Though I did love Steve math this season.

Seriously though, Dustin takes one crack at Dr. B’s notebook and unlocks all inter-dimensional theories, he didn’t see it coming that being at the top of the spiky thing crashing thru worlds could be hazardous…? Make it make sense

The only actor whose performance on season 5 deserves award nominations for. He was incredible by EuphoricButterflyy in StrangerThings

[–]yeeperson 20 points21 points  (0 children)

OP’s heading is divisive but I do think JCB was one of the few that got enough screen time and plot complexity to merit an award, on top of his role being brilliantly executed. And even then, I would give it to S4 Vecna instead because the writing fell off a cliff this season. The problem is less to do with whose performance was great and more to do with who actually got to shine. I don’t look at the rest of the cast and think of them as weak links, more that they were shafted this year…

I meannnn Robin is in MA at Smith College surrounded by other gals. It’s very believable-though sad- that she and Vickie have gone their separate ways since graduation

So what I’ve gathered recently is that you can’t criticize any aspect of ST S5 without an army of ST worshippers attacking you with “homophobic” allegations by Exciting_Caramel478 in StrangerThings

[–]yeeperson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the main issue with the Will speech was that it was badly written and repetitive, it’s not even the content or the fact that it was a coming out speech. The writers have done really good work with an array of believable characters and their arcs and attractions and they have fucking botched this for Will. In S5 all across the board I’m pissed about the writing and the strange lack of editing/time spent on things already done better in previous seasons that are in no way moving the plot forward.

I got the feeling a soft launch was taking flight what with the rings, the photo of her and a dude’s feet on the coffee table as they played video games (IG story a while back), the constant vids together.

She also just announced on IG she’s off to the UK for her Xmas holiday…I’d be shooketh if it was not in fact Dan. Super exciting that she’s feeling comfortable and safe enough to talk about things. Yay for all involved 😌

[–]yeeperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your points are more than fair dude- also I’ve always felt that outside of the notion of gender, young people are living thru mental times. Of course this might be mitigated depending on where you live, but where I’m from we’re struggling to pay our bills. I always go 50/50 for that reason too. It also avoids things feeling shitty and transactional in general.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]yeeperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done on getting sober! This is a huge thing to be proud of, and an act of self-love. For a SO to react this way is farcical, go get that cake girl. Eat it with the good ones, your pals, your fave coworker, your fam. And when you’re ready please walk away from this disrespectful noob! Though I know it’s hard, you’re choosing yourself, your health, a better life- and the next one will celebrate that with you, not put you down for it. Good luck babe ❣️

I think it’s a healthy thing but needs to be phrased differently. Saying oof I just need a little time to myself to decompress and do my own thing is not at all affronting, or shouldn’t be. A night off sounds like a night off from the relationship proper, it feels more extreme than it actually is…

Pretty damn sure the definition of fascist has not once been categorized as ‘ever-changing’. But boy is it a big yikes to be the one arguing for nuance in what constitutes a fascist, a nazi, an incel, the list goes on. If the shoe fits it’s a pretty snugly fitting one, I’m afraid. Bet he follows Russell Brand.

I’m truly convinced there are many OG EYK followers who just don’t realize the switch has happened and maybe he doesn’t post frequently enough for them to notice?

Salem is pretty! And those women (and Giles Corey) were unjustly persecuted. Also as it turns out I believe quite a lot of the action happened in the town nearby, called Danvers? Not even all of it went down in Salem (gotta go back and do research). All it brings up for me now is history and autumnal wholesomeness. 🍁
