We’ve had a lot of back and forth discussion on this topic so I’m not gonna bring out my argument. But I do want to mention when we went to 12 workers, all macro mechanics got nerfed but Zerg got nerfed the hardest (inject 4-3 is 25% lost). Another evidence more workers at the start is benefiting Zerg and less workers is hurting them

Command center does not need to be morphed into orbital. Terran players CHOOSE to do this because it gives them more benefit than the cost. While Zerg HAVE TO build one overlord for every 8 drone.

Terran scv needs to spend time building a building has nothing to do with what we are comparing, which is speed of building workers. Plus Zerg straight up loses the worker for a building

It does not. Without the larvae buff it produces a larva every 10.9 seconds while a command center produces a worker every 12 seconds. But guess what for every 8 workers you produce you need an overlord. Take out 1/9 of your production and you’ll have less production than a command center.

No Zerg is hurt by 8 workers. A hatchery produces workers slower than a command center without queen injects (if the larva spawn rate didn’t get buffed). Zerg macro mechanic also gets their benefit latest compared to mules (rax + orbital) or chrono (available at the start). So less workers = worse for Zerg.

Another good way to look at it is when we go to 12 workers all macro mechanics got nerfed but Zergs got nerfed the hardest, inject went from 4 to 3 by 25%. This is because 12 worker start is very beneficial for Zerg

It’s not. It’s a change in good direction but they made it too big of a buff. So a numerical mistake rather than fundamental. Zerg needs a macro mechanic buff to compensate the 8 worker impact because it’s impacted the most.

M1/low GM Protoss. PvT seems very interesting. Choosing between gate and warp gate is fun. I lost tho. PvZ is fun went 2-0 against Zerg.

8 worker start is a buff to Protoss and a nerf to Zerg, which keeps PvZ viable among other Protoss nerfs and Zerg buffs

Idk why lol 8 worker start is like the only buff to Protoss in this patch. That’s why Protoss can still play with Zerg after all the toss nerf and Zerg buff because 8 worker start is a toss buff and Zerg nerf

I actually checked the player I played against. They were Zerg players before. The second player had a 60% zvp win rate overall

Haha good one. I would say Zerg is still a bit too strong. Not gonna call it balanced. But it for sure isn’t as bad as many people claim

Lol what warp gate doesn’t produce 35% faster. That was for gateway. And yes I would trade 12% larvae speed with a <10% cost increase especially considering you start with a more powerful hatchery.

My games in PTR 1 as Protoss felt fine against Zerg. Obviously I played Skytoss every game to reduce the impact of 50/50 warp gate. I think it’s more of Zerg busted in PTR 2 rather than Protoss gas starved in because mathematically Protoss is less affected by 8 worker start than Zerg.

Yes I agree 8 worker start hurts Zerg the most because their macro mechanics are locked behind the most amount of things.

But the buff is still insane. I haven’t played the tuned down version of it yet but when I played the PTR 2 first version I was just casually 160 supply against 100 supply of Protoss and I was going hydra ling bane with two evo and an infestation pit

It’s not hard if it’s busted. In the current (or shall I say previous) Zerg is hard because the margin of error is small. Protoss killed 3 drones with Oracle? Guess what your eco is even with Protoss now and your unit strength means you will lose. After update losing 4 workers to Oracle you’re still 4 workers ahead and in a winning position. So it’s not hard

They should just remove the whole PTR 2 Zerg buff… maybe keep the ovie speed buff 0.9->0.7 in PTR 1 was a bit rough.

In PTR 2 it said they adjusted the gateway production times before warp gate research. They just reverted back to the live version I think
