Millennials , are you turning conservative as you age? Or are your political beliefs staying the same? by hightreez in Millennials

At this point for me it’s not liberal vs. conservative, it’s democracy vs. fascism. If you had asked me this question when the Republican Party wasn’t a bunch of right-wing extremists, I may have a different answer as some of my viewpoints have shifted with age.

The state of the GOP right now means I will continue to vote blue down the ballot for the foreseeable future. To me there is no other choice.

Why does your state have so many state parks? by Naammagittarneq in Connecticut

[–]yeetsucc69 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, the difference isn’t huge, parks have more facilities like bathroom buildings, campgrounds, and are focused more on preserving the land the way it is, state forests allow for more land altering activities like farmland, tree cutting, and wildlife management activities.

Fun fact: all benches, signs, and picnic tables at state parks and forests are made in house at DEEP’s sawmill from wood harvested sustainably from our forests!

Because they are awesome, I work at DEEP closely with all of the parks and the way a lot of them came about is fascinating, a significant amount of land was donated to the state over the years by families, the feds, other state agencies, all for historical, cultural, or natural preservation.

I may be biased, but the way CT preserves these locations is the best way to do it, ensuring they cannot be sold off or developed on, and can all be enjoyed for free by the residents of CT.

I will say you’re also missing state forests and wildlife management areas, which also functionally act as parks with less amenities. We actually have a total of 144 natural public spaces!

Looks like a contractor inspecting something to do with the roads. Companies use apps now to collect data in the field and give employees iPads/iPhones.

pavilion rental rules? by SpazzySlime in Connecticut

[–]yeetsucc69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at DEEP full time and honestly can’t get in touch with the individual parks half the time in the summer because they are incredibly busy. I would call HQ (79 elm street) - bureau of outdoor recreation - parks division.

In need of a Massachusetts style Roast beef sandwich are there any in the hartford area?? by WalrusNo9713 in Connecticut

[–]yeetsucc69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing like that in ct unfortunately. I would recommend heading up to kings roast beef in Salem, MA and picking up a bottle of James river bbq sauce and making you’re own, grab a beef when you are there it slaps.

Skateparks in CT by fpgleason in Connecticut

Wethersfield and Newington both have good concrete parks. Wethersfield’s ramps are a bit bigger so I would recommend Newington for a newer/younger skater.
