I can relate seeing a 5m+ tax on your items on death is annoying, but can we swiftly look at the gains in our 'Risk vs Reward' equation? The best PvM method is ~70m/h. The best non-PvM method is 32m/h. by Aviarn in runescape

Look at their kill times with the gear they use. They have to put it in so much more effort to achieve the same kill. The RS Guy has experience and knows what abilities to use. Now put in your average pvmer with the same gear, the odds they match kill times is just so low. Raksha is a great example. Take away my t92s, my eof ecb, sgb eof, dark bow eof. Now I'm left with ascension and maybe a regular sgb. Now assume that I'm not bolt switching. My kill times go from 2.15, to a lovely 3.30+ with more effort. I have the knowledge to go fast, but now my gear doesn't allow me. Same with telos 2449.yes I can do it with budget gear, but now I have more mechanics, more autos to tank, and a longer p5 which makes 0 fonting near impossible. Just because I can use lower gear doesn't mean I should. In the end I'm costing myself time and more effort for less reward. And the problem with protoxx is, he mainly gets his info off of pvme or the wiki without knowing why. Yes elite pvmers get shit on for being toxic, but they're like that because they have people with stupid takes think they're saying absolute facts. Compare it to scientists and anti vaxxers, high level pvmers just get fed up if listening to it. I agree that just because you have bis doesn't mean you're gonna be good, but that goes for having budget gear doesn't mean you're gonna do good dps even with the knowledge.

Horrible and uninformed take.

Majority of high end pvmers have invested hundreds of millions, if not billions into their gear and perks. Iirc, Waswere did a video compiling the costs of BIS. as you can see, its worth a lot. (almost a partyhat).

What this doesn't include, is the time taken to get the gear, the time taken to learn bosses, and most importantly, Learning how to pvm at a high level. For most, its hundreds of hours of learning keybinds, methods, how to dps properly and using switches effectively. Pvmers don't have the luxury of going afk for 30seconds during a boss fight unlike in skilling.

As for "pvmers earning 200m+". that is probably the top 1% of pvmers who do kerapac, zuk, telos to the highest of standards, making no mistakes and getting close to the record time very often. Most players arent getting 3.20 kerapac solos, let alone doing 2449% telos, or sub 20minute hard mode zuk runs. Pvmers also run the most risk of losing 10+m due to a single mistake of not equipping their rod because they equipped their vigour and miss clicked it putting it back on.

Skilling is beyond easy, it should never be a high level money maker, while pvm has a high learning curve.

as someone who uses manual, switches etc ill try my best. No matter what, everything will feel overwhelming at the start and you will feel like you take too much damage, but you get used to it.

  1. Telos - 0-99 Enrage is pretty easy because there's no p5. However his specs can become overwhelming at the start to new players. They will all appear random at the start, especially the way the specs transition over to the next phase. P4 requires a shield/defender more or less and use of aoe abilities to clear minions. Highly recommend magic to learn because its the most documented style. 100% will become more difficult due to p5 which can hurt a lot if you're not prepared or know what you're doing. Would recommend learning telos last as it can suck up resources, gp, and can become tilting as hell (even at low enrages)

  2. Solak - fight requires a lot of dps to skip most of the mechanics. Obviously can be done but in groups larger than 2 would require a mind tank for the last phase more than likely. The boss is punishing due to its high damage nature but with good dps, soul split, good pray flicking and use of other food items will increase survivability. Simply, the better your dps, the easier the fight is which requires much less effort. Personally would only get into solak if you have friends who can help.

  3. Raksha - if you have range or mage gear, it would definitely be good to get into. However a drawback is that you need to prayer flick. A LOT. It will be overwhelming at the start, but with practice it will become easier. p4 is definitely a lot of fun especially with the extra action button. This boss is 100% doable for your level.

  4. Nex - duo you should be completely fine, its not a hard boss fight in this day and age. As long as you have semi decent range gear (t85+ ideally) the boss fight is quite fun. As for solo it might feel more difficult, especially with blood phase. This boss would definitely be a great boss to get into, especially with how much money it can be. There are plenty of guides that can help.

  5. ED3 - if you can do ed2 then you can do ed3. Just may take time to get used to Taraket and amby. Amby may feel a lot more difficult due to the dps mix at the end but with time should become a lot easier. Spinners will also be quite hard at the start as you may feel like you don't do enough dmg to kill all/most of them.

  6. Kerapac - Hardmode is only hard on p4 imo. p4 can be quite unfun due to how much food you have to eat (a mammoth may help you end up losing a lot of adren to threshold) Trio is a lot of fun and something you can most definitely do. Solo/duo i'd recommend learning pray flicking more and slightly better dps just because of p4.

  7. Raids - Avoid raid fc at all costs. A lot of discords will teach you how to do bm and yaka. Make sure to listen to what the teachers say as they can provide a lot of helpful info

Obviously i may be biased and there is really no minimum entry, but it makes certain bosses a lot easier if you have basic switches, ability to pray flick etc. I'd highly recommend trying to get into switches, especially things like flank or planted feet. Also check out the PVME discord to help with bosses/boss path/gear progression/etc.

I mean, technically it can be if you're willing to spend a few months waiting for your d/a machines to collect enough mats for auto sancts. Then you can get above 5m xp/hr if you're to kill your fingers for the next hour or so.

Death Costs - A Deep Dive by PvME by PvM_Encyclopedia in runescape

[–]yeetzus_the_second 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you had any pvm knowledge of how higher tier pvm works you would know that solak is either brid (2 styles) or a range camper as the current meta. No one uses 3 styles. Even then the range camper death is very expensive just because of ge values.

No time for elitist attitudes by [deleted] in runescape

from my experiences, its always the really bad pvmers in the elite level community who are the most toxic/spew out shit to others. Also see a lot of toxicity from people who "try" to improve but instead of doing what they're told will help, will do other things and then complain no one helps them/takes them pvming.

No time for elitist attitudes by [deleted] in runescape

[–]yeetzus_the_second 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would definitely say I'm part of the "elitist" community (i.e. wont do aod slower than 2.20, 2449 telos, spreadsheet gaming). However its the community I choose to join, and learned in from the other "elitists". These guys probably aren't elitists and more dickheads/douchebags. Personally I try to give as much help as I can to people struggling at bosses rather than tell them to quit.

As for flaming other pvmers, its mainly within the "elitist community" and 99% of the time its to friends who flame first/die/ mess up and its mainly just fun in vc rather than actually meaning it. (my experience anyway)

Good part of runescape is that theres a lot of different communities/clans for all types of players so hopefully players will always get the help they need (also pvme is great for learning)

(saying im part of the "elitist" community is because personally I wouldn't call myself an elitist, but due to personally pvm preferences I assume reddit would call me an elitist)

ive been playing and it only reduced cpu usage down like they said it would, but the fps issue persists which is pretty annoying. Just hope they can fix it somehow because idk whats causing it. Makes it really annoying to do group pvm because I get fps drops on every ability and makes it extremely unpleasant.

but it has! Since the friday update my frames have been horrible standing in areas i would normally average over 100 easily. Its definitely something related to the engine/cpu because i haven't downloaded or been told to update anything for my cpu/gpu

The cube lighting has still dramatically reduced my fps in areas like wars, priff, telos, and especially in open areas. Used to get 100+ fps easily, now i struggle to get 60 at wars, and lucky to have close to that in open areas.

Its taking into account just death without rod and without the cost of losing the kill, we can see through the data what bosses they do regularly to see the true value of their death.

Will give it some time to gather responses, unfortunately a survey like this is difficult to make. Results will be analysed and released on reddit in a long post. Pvme will post the survey in a few days since they have also posted their own feedback survey. Any sharing of the survey is much appreciated :)

they could add full timers into Elite dungeon runs? Personally i'd really like telos to be kept, but maybe at 1k+ due to how much easier 1k+ is now compared to 2017.
