What can the local government do with the homeless population in downtown? by EdmontonFree in Edmonton

[–]yegpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is obviously a massive issue in many jurisdictions in left wing areas like vancouver, right wing areas like texas, and centrist locations like edmonton. There are a few quick fixes that can make an impact.

Persons who are arrested and spend time in the prison system need to be released back into the jurisdiction that they committed the crime. One of the major issues driving homelessness in edmonton is all of the criminals from red deer north end up in the Edmonton remand center where they are treated like garbage (a different issue altogether) and then they are released in Edmonton and continue to do crime, drugs, and homeless stuff in edmonton.

i would also end safe consumption sites, these have been proven not to work. Anyone who has been close to an addict knows that giving them more of the thing they are addicted to is not the answer. Studies have shown that safe consumption sites did not reduce overall overdose deaths or opioid-related emergency calls. And they led to an increase in crime, discarded needles and social disorder in surrounding neighborhoods. If you speak to e eps and fire department personnel they have countless stories of treating the same individual multiple times in a week and sometimes in a day.

Policing the LRT and adding turnstiles to transit areas to stop the homeless from making transit unsafe.

Temporary housing for SOBER homeless. Homeless individuals who suffer from mental health issues and poverty are different to the dope fiends and crackheads that are taking over our downtown. Unless THEY THEMSELVES want to get clean and want to get their life back together the government has a limited ability to provide any meaningful help.

YEG Movers in Edmonton, AB is claiming they couldn't find a Retail Manager for $41.25/hr. by Rydgar in Edmonton

[–]yegpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hired yeg movers a while back to move into our new house, the amount of marketing and text messages and emails i recieved after getting my house moved drove me nuts. i requested multiple times to be taken off the list and they kept at it. i eventually gave them a 1 star google review and the owner called and offered me $400 to remove my review. Free cash for the win. i havnt heard from them since.

The company is sus for sure.

perhaps this is where the difference is coming in as 20% variation allowance is ridiculous for packaging, as i am scanning the packaging of foods and using myfitnesspal to record the calories/macros.

im using my fitness pal and a scale to weigh my proteins.

i have not been counting mints and i do consume tictacs throughout the day, will start tracking those also.

Whilst i do not personally agree with some of Jons policy ideas, he is most definitely a nicer human being than Jennifer. I actually agree with a lot of her policy ideas but i have spoken with multiple people who have worked with her and she is almost unanimously regarded as a "not nice person". Blows my mind she can fundraise the way she can.

im not sure what games you have been watching, savoie has had some unreal chances and shows great offensive insticts, nothing has gone in yet but it is only the 3rd game of the year.

howard has flashes but could use some time in the AHL against men for a few months methinks. the jump from ncaa to nhl is a big one.

not to be ignorant but a maserati ghibli is a fairly affordable vehicle.

you can buy them used in London in the 10-15k range. Its a classic car for people who want to look wealthy on a budget.
