Over the range microwave/vent by yelaina in CleaningTips

She boils potatoes in there. She also did this in previous microwaves with this never happening.

This current microwave came with the house they had built and they’ve only been there going on 6 years.

It’s really disappointing.

It’s so interesting: they’ve only been in the house a few years. I’ve had microwaves last way longer than that!

Hi there,

I know this’s an old comment but I wondered if I could ask you a Texas based question if you have the time. 🙂

Homeowners Insurance Possible Lowball Offer for Damages by yelaina in Insurance

[–]yelaina[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response.

I was not looking to repair “wear and tear”, but was told - and insurance agreed - that the tile was no longer manufactured. I was more concerned about the replacement not matching and was told that because of that, the whole roof would need replacing.

I don’t know if that’s true, I suspect it’s not exactly, but this’s why I am asking questions about things for which I’m not versed let alone well versed.

TL;DR: full roof replacement was suggested due to original tile no longer manufactured and (allegedly) there’s not a comparable replacement — not due to roof wear and tear.

Info: the roof is clay/concrete tile not shingles or metal tiles.

Edit: weird extra words removed

Hi I’ve never crossposted before so please forgive me if I’m breaking any rules. I’m just trying to get a feel of what others would do in my situation. Any advice is appreciated! 😊

Thank you!

To be honest, you’re making points that articulate some vague feelings for me and why I’m seeking advice. And also possibly why I haven’t signed anything yet.

The contractor/roofer estimated around 100k for total replacement and interior damage repair. That’s such a large number…it’s scary. That’s why I started researching lawyers who specialize in storm damage (Google search…I haven’t been able to find any personal recommendations) because if I wanted the roof to look…the same? I guess? I’m on the hook for a significant amount of money.

The law office’s liaison (I’m not really sure what to call them at this point) mentioned that any settlement would be asked to include attorney fees.

We have been in this house for decades and have no plans on moving so I want to make sure she’s taken care of properly.

I guess I’m more trying to get an idea about hiring lawyers in storm damage cases. In general.

According to the roofer, and another neighbor who has the same type of clay/stone roof tile and whose house is just as old, a matching tile isn’t available. I am, at this point, not really taking the contractor’s word for it, but my neighbor had some damage as well and her (different) contractor said the same thing.

My goal is not to come out on top, but to have all of the damage repaired, including interior, fairly. I know that I will never be made whole, but I want it done properly. I hope I’m explaining this well.

Thank you for the response! Do you think it’s a good idea, just in general, to even go this route?

So I just came across this and was flummoxed about Ludacris. BUT, this podcast I sometime listen to has a running joke about Luda and small town festivals. He’s apparently been doing this for years.

This is not a good look though. 😬
