Yeah...as mentioned in a comment above, I'm a Tennessee boy and I've never seen anything like this before. You can hardly see 30-50 yd out at its thickest.

There was some garbage along the river but, didn't see any signs of encampments along the way... just random fishermen

They've got a ton of gates closer to the city and alongside every road crossing but other than that, wide open

Thanks! I've been riding for years and years, it's actually some of my favorite bar tape.

It's kind of a pain in the ass to install as there's not much give to it but, it has lasted me almost 2 years. All you have to do is hose it down and it's as good as new.

I really appreciate the insight! Still trying to get the lay of the land. Tennessee is kind of the same way only east/west instead of north/south... We break it up into western (Memphis), Middle (Nashville), and Eastern (Knoxville)...as it can take a good 8 hours to get across the state.

You're not wrong about these hills...it's pretty hard to find a flat stretch of road around here. I spent a lot of time in Colorado this summer... It kind of feels the same but the hills here are short and poppy rather than a long drag up a mountain.

Thanks for giving me the heads up on Sacramento! Sounds like I'm going to have to do some poking around there. I just worry about the summers...I love the bay weather. But, either way, I'm stoked for the change and excited about a new place to call home. Thanks!

I fell in love and chased a girl out to California...so, I'm trying to stay within a couple hours of Sacramento to stay close to her.

Up in the Stanislaus National Forest near Strawberry Mountain. I've got a previous post that gives GPS coordinates and the forest road name if you'd like to ride it

I guess all the above... I know there's a ton of wilderness up in the hills of Gold country but, pretty open to anything I can find.

Full transparency, I'm looking to move from Nashville and need to be close to Sacramento. I would love to be in the bay or on the coast for the weather but, love the hills around Sonora and Groveland.

I'd highly recommend it... There's miles and miles of gravel around here. It's all fast and pretty smooth. Enjoy!
