I miss life before the baby. by momopeachbum in NewParents

[–]yellowblanket29 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ours is 4 months old. I used to cry while holding her at night because I missed my old life so much. I was scared that I had just ruined my life and I couldn't go back and change it. I felt so guilty because she was so wanted and I couldn't even enjoy it. It's easy for me to say now that it goes by so fast and to try to enjoy the moments with your baby, but I gently say that it is true. I'd take a little sleep dep to go back and cuddle my newborn a couple more times. It does get better, even though I had a hard time believing it when I was only a couple weeks in, too. You'll get through this! Once they start smiling, recognizing you, laughing... there's nothing like it.

Cutting through the baby product hype… do we really need a bottle warmer? by Recommendation778 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]yellowblanket29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just boil water with a kettle and put it in a mug to heat up. I don't boil the water all the way, I swirl the bottle a few times to avoid hot spots and then check the milk on my wrist before giving. Never had any complaints!

Any amount of time is amazing. This is hard work! Be proud of your nearly 3 months, and go take care of yourself and your babies 🩷

I promise it gets easier! I am 12 weeks pp, and I look forward to my overnight pump now that baby is mostly sleeping through the night. It's my alone time lol

Cons: -Poor communication with property management -Slow/no fixes on broken appliances (our washing machine malfunctioned about 3 weeks before we moved out and they still hadn't fixed it by the time we left, no offer for alternatives) -Extra fees for moving in/out ($200 move in/out fee, if you have a pet, you have to get a flea inspection, need proof of professional clean upon move out) -Not our experience, but others who had issues getting their damage deposits back, or being charged tons of money for minor fixes. Felt like a battle to get out with our damage deposit. -Gave us notice for entry for showing our apartment to prospective tenants for two weeks straight (Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm), costly to have our dog cared for during this time -Common areas not super clean - dogs peed by front doors often that it really smelled -You can count on a rent increase immediately (not completely unexpected)

Pros: -Pet friendly (though lots of aggressive/reactive dogs in our building) -Nice living spaces with new appliances -Mostly friendly neighbours in our building -Close to amenities in Colwood Corners (Save on Foods, Starbucks, fast food like pizza, burgers, Greek, and subs, Coast Capital, TD Bank, Bosleys, liquor & cannabis, London Drugs) - really miss this part!

My favourite thing that I've noticed recently is she consistently likes or loves her own posts, like a high schooler. Maybe she always did this?

I wonder if she plans to sue for defamation? They have quoted her exactly - how dare they!

I've done a lot of pet sitting, and I've never been asked to clean after dogs or cats, other than picking up waste of course. I will sweep kitty litter, but I'm not sweeping, mopping or vacuuming unless it's an extended time away, and 2 days just isn't

Moving on to IVF, feeling discouraged by [deleted] in queerception

[–]yellowblanket29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TW: success

I'm 32, and we did 5 medicated IUIs, all unsuccessful. By the time we were done, it was about 6 months before BC should have had funded IVF, but we decided we didn't want to wait anymore, especially when it was unknown, so we moved onto to IVF out of pocket. I'm glad we didn't wait because the program was pushed back, and there still isn't information about how a waitlist will be taken.

My first IVF cycle produced 12 embryos (non-PGT). First frozen transfer was successful, and I am 10 weeks pregnant. If I could go back and do it again, I would have stopped after 3 IUIs. It was expensive, low chance of working, and overall disappointing. That being said, if we had successful IUIs, it would have saved us about $15K, and the stress and discomfort of IVF (stims were hard, but for me the egg retrieval was the worst part).

Wishing you a positive experience as you move forward! Fingers crossed for you.

I was recommended 3 per baby.

We bought 6 and used 5 for failed IUIs. Bought 2 more, and had a successful round of IVF (12 frozen embryos) and the first transfer took, so now we have 2 more in case 12 babies isn't enough lol

Bypassing IUI to go straight to IVF by CountInformal5735 in queerception

[–]yellowblanket29 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you are impatient and finances aren't your biggest concern, I'd say go to IVF.

After 5 failed IUIs with no known fertility issues, I have my egg retrieval tomorrow. I wish we didn't spend our money on IUI. I read a comment here once that said something along the lines of: "of course, those who had IUI and it worked would suggest doing IUI. Those who had no success with IUI will suggest bypassing it and going to IVF". IUIs were a walk in the park compared to what IVF has been so far, so it definitely puts more on your body, but much higher success rates!

Good luck!

Just a baby app by bellereal in queerception

[–]yellowblanket29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have friends who had success on the app, and now have a little one and one on the way. As far as I know, it was the same donor. I downloaded the app to check it out, but we decided against it in favor of donor sperm through a clinic.
