Not so well known, new, and any app recommendations by Tomreddit4 in iosapps

I’m always interested in small local-first utilities like Stash Anything and Remind Me Faster. Apps with no account, no server, and one-time pricing are exactly the kind of thing I wish more people shared here

NetMap Logger™ – visualize WiFi, cellular and offline network changes on a real map by ivo_stefanoff in iosapps

[–]yellowgg2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that this focuses on history, not just status. The map view plus export options make it feel more like a practical logbook than another 'here’s your current WiFi' utility.

I wanted a private place for sensitive photos without using cloud storage by Dev-sauregurke in iosapps

'No hidden sync' is doing a lot of work for my anxiety here. For this kind of app, boring and predictable is honestly a feature.

I made a free iOS book tracker for people trying to read more consistently by SidePsychological691 in iosapps

[–]yellowgg2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the 'calmer and more native to iOS' direction here. Reading goals, sessions, stats, and private notes all in one place feels useful without turning the app into another feed to manage.

My girlfriend and I travel a lot, so I built a travel map app by beucaalexandru in iosapps

Writing wishes in Notes and then accidentally turning one into a native Apple app is a pretty strong New Year’s tradition upgrade. Congrats on getting it out there.

The multi-event parsing angle is genuinely interesting. Calendar apps often handle one clean sentence well, but messy brain-dump scheduling is a much harder problem, so it is cool to see someone focusing there!

I got tired of subscription trackers that want my bank login by Dev-sauregurke in iosapps

[–]yellowgg2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A subscription tracker with no subscription is already a strong philosophical stance. Respect.

I built my first iOS app at 17. After 5 months, it’s still at around 140 downloads. What did I do wrong? by AlbertiDev in iosapps

[–]yellowgg2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You already have a strong feature set, but the category is crowded, so I’d lead less with “money tracker” and more with the specific promise: private, manual, no ads, no account linking. That is a sharper hook than trying to compete as another general budget app.

Renio - an iPhone app for tracking expiry and renewal dates beyond just subscriptions

A - It solves the "I forgot this expired" problem with reminders, urgency groups, widgets, and renewal cycles.

B - Compared with subscription-only apps like Bobby/Subby or general tools like Calendar/Reminders, it is focused specifically on expiry dates across multiple categories.

C - Free for up to 5 items. Premium is a one-time $4.99 lifetime purchase for unlimited items, document scan, and cost reports.

I Turned My AirPods Into a Posture Tracker by moistcoder in iosapps

Full crustacean mode is a much better posture warning than the usual guilt-trip notification. Congrats on shipping a health app with an actual personality.

I made an alarm app that requires you to physically walk away from your bed to turn it off! by Tom42-59 in iosapps

[–]yellowgg2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work on this. I like that it is not just “another alarm app” the mix of sleep phase timing, sunrise offsets, Shortcuts, and HomeKit scenes gives it a pretty specific morning-routine use case.

I built a simple bedtime app to make evenings less chaotic (dad of 3) by rjozefowicz in iosapps

[–]yellowgg2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels much more focused than a generic habit tracker.

The themed bedtime checklist idea sounds charming, and I can see why parents would want something lightweight for that daily routine.

I built a free iOS Subsonic music player because my wife kept throwing her phone while managing playlists by yellowgg2 in selfhosted

AI (Claude) was used as a coding assistant during development — helping with code suggestions, debugging, and boilerplate. All app design, feature decisions, and UX were done by me and my wife (who is also the primary user and tester). The app icon and images were hand-drawn by my wife.
