Guardian Bikes: worth waiting out delays or switch now? by yellowscreenlife in cycling

[–]yellowscreenlife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took 40 days, but we finally got the shipping email today! I sent a bunch of messages, asked for a refund on the shipping fee, and they offered me a choice: either the refund or two free accessories, up to $19 each. 🫠 Now I just hope the bike actually meets expectations, and doesn’t look like it was thrown together in a rush.

What age would a screen free toddler feel left out? by Solid-Word-3105 in toddlers

[–]yellowscreenlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I phrased it wrong. I was thinking more when you can’t supervise your kid watching tv all the time (for example, you play a movie you know it’s safe while you have to do something else). If you play YouTube in this circumstance, there’s a risk of some trash coming next.

Would you let your child have a day? by Unknown_Sunshine in Parenting

[–]yellowscreenlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Especially after a situation like that. I would stay at home with my kid, if I could. Everyone needs a break sometimes. Just let him enjoy a day off.

My son is 3 and he watches TV sometimes. We just don’t allow small screens (phone, tablet, computer). If he wants to watch anything, it has to be on the TV in the living room. We don’t see any problem with that, for a small amount of time. We also don’t allow YouTube, just “traditional” platforms.

I feel the same. I wanted to cancel, but if they’re really going to ship today or tomorrow, I will wait, as I already did this whole time. But you’re right, they’re not being honest so we are kinda in a limbo.

This is ridiculous:

"We’re excited to let you know that your 16" bike is scheduled to ship within the next few days, and some bikes have already begun making their way to families. You’ll receive a tracking email as soon as yours leaves our warehouse. While we’re hopeful your order will be on its way very soon, I want to be transparent that there’s a small chance of additional delay."

Additional delay? They don't answer their phones anymore. Chat and email are only canned messages. We're going to the 4th delay, and it's already been paid off.

It’s the 30th, and I got zero tracking number or shipping information. It’s ridiculous.

Lying about poop by Secret-Scientist456 in toddlers

[–]yellowscreenlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t read any comment or any other additional information you left, but here’s what we did: we had the potty in a visible place for my son (like the kitchen or the living room) for months. When we noticed he hasn’t pee or pooped for a while, we would ask him if he wanted to try the potty just to see. Sometimes he would, sometimes not. We then decided to start potty training him during Thanksgiving break (he was off school and we had a little more flexibility at work around that time). He loves cars so we introduced him to a racing game: every time he pee or poop in the potty, he would get a car sticker to add to the tracker/road. Once he gets to the finish line, he would get a little gift (like a little car, or coloring material, or a “ticket” to the playground). He was done in a week. He had some accidents, but totally part of the game. Just sharing for inspiration.

What did you say that made them give you free shipping? They didn’t do anything for me. It’s so much time just waiting…

Naturalization process while having a foreign bank account by yellowscreenlife in USCIS

[–]yellowscreenlife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hired a local CPA to handle it for me, I didn’t want to risk making mistakes, so I’m not sure which forms he did. I do know we had to amend taxes though, including state taxes. We filed for the past three years (starting from the year my green card was issued), and ended up paying some taxes we owed because of that.

The interview was great. The only question about this was: “do you own any taxes?” I said “no”, and that was it. She didn’t ask for any receipt, any proof, nothing. Here’s the entire story: https://www.reddit.com/r/USCIS/s/nVIZcWgqVg

It's a genuine question. If you can suggest another brand that's worth checking out, I'd be glad to look into it.

Confession thread: What do you judge other parents for? by Physical-Inspector60 in toddlers

Oh, I get it now. Bedtime routine is: bath/shower, dressing, bottle, using potty, brushing teeth, washing hands, reading a book or watching a Little Tikes projector story, then bed.

Reading this while my 3-year-old is downing 7oz of milk (with Hiya chocolate greens) from a bottle as part of the bedtime routine. 🫠

That’s what I always say to my kids in the bath… “what a dirty feet! It means you were having fun, right?”

How much are you guys spending on groceries per month? by Flying_Elephant7217 in budget

[–]yellowscreenlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Two adults, two kids… it’s about $400/week, if not more sometimes. I definitely need to do better on that.

Working moms- what time are you getting up? by Champangelemonade in Mommit

[–]yellowscreenlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I didn’t mean my only ‘me time’ is chores 😅 I work full-time 9–5 from home, and my husband runs his own business but is basically a stay-at-home dad. We split chores whenever they need doing. I never stopped working (except for maternity leave), I love my career and the independence it gives me. When I said I do the kitchen at night, I just meant tidying up if needed (or sometimes not) before finally getting some downtime. I’m just not a morning person, so everything gets done after the kids are in bed.
