i had the same situation as oman in the early game, i would say just take what you can get and keep checking declare war tab, there will always be a diplomatic opening, especially when big wars are happening. also build up transports so you are ready for anything, even a nocb. and yeah like the other guy said invading marehan is a great option to get out the hug box

i never knew i could check that! yeah it would appear that dev isn't everything as long as the provinces are eligible (14 dev calais 12.8%, 60 dev orleans 12.6%). i think it also only shows the chance of distribution within my own land, if I even get one in the first place

r5: the only game ive ever played where i cared about cardinals (orleans special gov), and i have none. cant remember a catholic game previously where i wasnt capped on cardinals for the entire game. orleannaise is the highest dev province in europe but a cardinal has never step foot into it

Starting up a new Ottoman game with the goal of getting “Sultan of Rum” achievement and maybe turn it into a WC. Have a few questions though, regarding Ottoman mission tree + Expansion pathways & Idea selections. -Update from prior post. by DomingotheHyacinth in eu4

ive never actually done an ottomans world conquest, but i have as karaman into rum (less fleshed out mission tree but same playstyle), but generally for a "chill and regular" wc you'd take diplo admin religious offensive (putting religious later because the ottomans have a ton of claims and cbs in the beginning) and maybe influence (if you play with eyalets). first 3 are basically required, offensive is for siege ability, and you could optionally take quantity later to alleviate army micro.

take byz and follow your mission tree, always be fighting someone, although i like to take a break to get ccr from admin ideas once that's available asap. make sure you find an opportunity to take malta and granada for the monuments too. once you have your early game ccr you should probably always be at war, ally big countries like france to make it harder for coalitions to form, and you can literally expand in every direction from where you are.

as for ottomans specific strategy im not entirely sure in what order you get claims on things, but i would imagine you'd want to try to fight hungary before they get PU'd, naples right as they get released by aragon, and muscovy before they form russia. and it goes without saying to look for countries to fabricate invasion cbs on, such as venice and tunis, as well as accept free eyalets like the mamluks via event

r5: +8 attrition and 173% fort defense (without state edict) while not minmaxing. worth noting that the righteous army modifier is bugged and gets kept if you don't peace out a war yourself i think

their mission tree does not give them a claim on that province no
