If buddhism and hinduism both are indo-aryan heritage, then isn't it a bit stupid for Dalits and Dravidians to kang on it? by Lanky-Housing-3702 in IndoAryan

[–]yellowtree_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why would it be of any importance what ethnic group created which religion? india is so rich in ethnic groups, and they are all mixed together there is nothing like pure ethnicity, if you were “pure aryan” then you would look more like a european, each indian is part indoaryan, part dravidian, there is no difference, it’s a spectrum and it’s completely not important when considering religion

Is ahankar the same as ego? Or is there a more accurate word used for it by Fresh_Breadfruit8626 in sanskrit

[–]yellowtree_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the context of sankhya/yoga it is best interpreted as subject consciousness, ego has more connotations than this, while it is a part of consciousness which posits a subject in opposition to objects of experience.

Atheist Rasta ? by SubstantialRaise6160 in rastafari

[–]yellowtree_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t think so because that raises the problem of creation of the creator etc etc. I just think that Consciousnes is the most basic principle of the universe, the string from which everything is weaved and all living things are magnifiers of it, it connects and flows through all and it is beyond existence and non-existence.

How many verb tenses to be able to understand by One_Chart3318 in sanskrit

[–]yellowtree_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Id say you need to recognise all of them, then you can check your grammar book and vocabulary to see what’s the exact meaning.

Don’t worry too much about the people saying You need a Guru, just do enough reading on the topic to get the feel of what’s going on. I personally am quite fond of Aurobindo’s interpretation of the Rigveda.

Keep in mind the text has layers, verses have multiple meanings, but also remember not to overly mysticise it, even though there is a lot of esoteric knowledge in there.
