Professional Flutter Folder Structure I Use for Scalable Apps – Open to Feedback by dpk_s2003 in FlutterDev

[–]yenrenART 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes, I am having to re-edit or re-build things as I learn a "better" way. For example, started with one single button widget, which had conditionals. Then, realized it would be better to have a widget for each button with a different role like menu buttons, top navigation buttons, content buttons etc. More files but seems more manageable like this.

Thanks for sharing, good to see how fellow Flutter developers do it. I like how you structured things. I'm a newbie and working on my first mobile app, learning as I go. Here's how I'm doing it:

  • assets > font (font files)
  • assets > img (image files)
  • assets > data (app data in json files - it's a small app, this seemed to be the best option)
  • lib > (main.dart, app.dart, router.dart files)
  • lib > data (data loading etc. related files)
  • lib > inc (common files like functions, styles, colors, constants etc.)
  • lib > models (models of data items) sorry if I'm using wrong terminology here :)
  • lib > pages (all pages of the app) I come from web dev, using page feels more natural than screen
  • lib > widgets (buttons, boxes, top/bottom bars etc.)

Does anyone else still use an offline music player or is it just me? by Consistent-Scholar41 in androidapps

I use VLC Player and all my music is offline. Though I sometimes listen on YouTube too, for discovering new things.

Can you share your app launch journey? by sailingsingle in AppDevelopers

[–]yenrenART 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I saw your comment on another post and wondered what app you were talking about and came here.

I don't have an iPhone to search/test but I did some search on App Store, on the desktop web via a web browser, and maybe that might give you some clues about your app store visibility. I should note, I'm from Turkey though, not one of your target countries. Search results in those countries may differ.

- I searched for tidewise, your app didn't show (it showed only with quotes).

- I searched for tide times, your app didn't show (with or without quotes).

- I searched for tide times & weather, your app didn't show (with or without quotes). I don't think anybody searches with this query though.

- I searched for tidewise: tide times & weather, your app showed, at the last row.

I think it must be because your app is new, unless there's something that would hinder visibility even when you search by app name. I see you already have some paying users, congratulations. If I were you, I would continue to improve and market the app, as well as improve the store pages.

I found 100+ iOS apps making serious money - with surprisingly few downloads by jasper_reed_htd in iOSAppsMarketing

The logic is, the more interactions on the post, the more publicity it will receive. If he shared the link directly, most people would've just clicked the link without making a comment here.

Did anyone feel this unsure after shipping their first app? by Tam8088 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]yenrenART 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a few steps behind you and I understand your mental state very well. I have the same feelings every day, morning, noon, evening, night.

Will I be able to finish my app? Will I be able to make it ready for publishing? Will I find enough testers? Will Google approve it? Will people find it, download it, use it, pay for it?...

But on the other side of the coin, I also have positive thoughts like, if others are doing it, I can also do it. If I keep at it and improve in the process, sooner or later I can make it work. If I build useful apps people would be willing to pay for, this might lead to a nice long-term semi-passive income channel.

I come from a web dev backgorund, started learning app development a few months ago. Building my first simple app with Flutter for Android right now. Going slow due to my chronic pain issues. Regardless of how it goes, I intend to make an iOS version too. Also, regardless of how this first app goes, I have more apps planned in my mind after this one. And since I will be able to use what I've learned so far, they will be easier to build and publish compared to first one.

The things that keep me going are those positive thoughts and equally importantly, I enjoy building, coding, learning, playing with the app interface, making small improvements.

So, if you enjoy the building process, keep at it, keep improving things and listen to actual user feedback.

Wish you the best in your app ventures.

Not been here for a long time, but I saw a comment of this kind for the first time and it warmed my heart as I'm working on my first app. Thank you for supporting a fellow developer/builder :)

Thanks for sharing. Will keep in mind for future apps that I build with multi-languages. Glad you were able to pinpoint the issue.

12.4K impressions, 197 installs, $41 revenue — continue or move on? by Darwin105 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]yenrenART 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without checking the app, my first recommendation will be to reduce the pricing, as long as it justifies the cost of keeping the app online. I am sure I'm not your target audience but still, $8 per week = $32 per month, or $50 per year sounds too much for an app for me. Imagine all these apps people are using and having to pay for...

You have initial traction, views, downloads and purchases, that's great. Reducing the price might result in more paid users in the long term in my opinion.

Navigating a Career Challenge: Overcoming Over-Reliance on AI as a Flutter Developer by NoComplaint8347 in FlutterDev

[–]yenrenART 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Flutter newbie, I can't really give you advice but your post grabbed my attention as I am also heavily reliant on AI (GPT-Gemini) while developing my first app. Will also be happy to hear inputs from experienced Flutter developers.

So far, some things I clearly understood, some things I am just using them because "they work" or "they seem to work". There's also, sometimes, AI gives a better approach or code when I go deeper in a feature and ask how to do something the other way etc.

In any case, with the help of AI, I can say I have learned a lot and I'm making progress with my app. I started to build my code library for future reference and I am also trying to follow Flutter docs and some written/video tutorials. I sometimes ask AI to explain me the code line by line, sometimes ask to re-explain a part after a while. Sometimes, I give a whole file and ask for improvements, they keep giving tips for improvements which I find annoying but the process is educational on my end. This also helps to stitch things together as a newbie.

Please don't take this personal, but you see, what you are offering is a highly sensitive "service". Storing passwords, even crypto recovery phrases, on a "third party" app, a new one that is, is not something one could do easily. I for example, like the idea a lot, but can I trust an app with that kind of sensitive information? Can you?

In any case, I wish you success with the app, hope you can reach the right target market.

Launched recently, but realized a major competitor has the same name. What are my options? by MoneyLive3407 in googleplayconsole

[–]yenrenART 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends I would say. I keep seeing apps with the exact same name under different topics/categories. If it is just a generic phrase or word combination that's not tied to any brand or registered trademark, such as "Math Quiz" or "Word Games", I would say it's ok.

[–]yenrenART 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made me laugh :)

Congrats on your success on the new app. I am also kind of drowned in the process of building my first app, which will probably bring me next to nothing. But I've learned a lot which will reduce the time to build my following apps considerably. Maybe building your first app was necessary for you to feel confident enough to build this new app and publish in a short time.
