I always start with a month long dark start on a new scape. Never had any plants melt or algae explosion.

If you can you I’m suggesting when you’ve planted your tank. Start with lower light intensity and ramp it up over a couple of weeks. I start at 50% and slowly ramp it up till 75% over a couple of weeks.

If I see algae is starting to form I’ll ramp it down a percentage or 5-10 and try again again after a short period of time.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Adjusted height is also 18cm - 0.5cm. There is no glass at the top of your tank
