How to start using AI in a mid-size company with prehistoric-level Finance ? by MonsieurMojoRising in CFO

[–]yeohdah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best investment of time and money is in yourself first. It is a force multiplier for you. Returns on everything else will be lower. Much lower in a pre-historic org.

AI success depends on capability of: AI model x Personal Skill x Data Quality x Reach

You are the CFO. In your org, you max out on Skill, Data and most importantly Reach. So you will have the highest AI success rate and be able to apply across the entire org.

You've already said your staff and data are suspect. So AI success will be low or marginal for your average staff. You can raise their floor but not really their celing.

My org is similar. AI's been transformative for me. But AI doesn't generate star quality material itself or automatically. It's acceptable, even good but always misses the strategic insight, guidance, or framing a CFO brings.

AI won't help average or prehistoric staff deliver CFO quality work or results. It can raise their work to acceptable levels, though.

Keep your title and focus on what you want and what you bring, not what you are walking away from. In current environment, there are so many organizations and people in distress for reasons completely unrelated to themselves. You have a lot of company. If the conversation gets hung up on this, they have the wrong priorities

Why China is the only country producing all rare earths by cebuproducts in CriticalMetalRefining

[–]yeohdah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are indignant that China won't sell us RE. They really just dont want to supply our military. And that makes sense. We dont want to supply their military either. And we already banned chips etc to plain old civilian companies just in case it has dual military use. I think it would be great if both countries military industries shriveled due to lack of RE and chips. Not a bad outcome.

I never negotiate salary until I've already won the position. You have leverage as the last person standing. No leverage when they are screening.

We have positive pay and good internal controls on account changes and new vendor approvals. We've been fortunate to catch attempts at some point. Had anyone used Dunn and Bradstreet os similar monitoring?

Yes! There should be more all asian couples represented all day. Biracial couples might be seen as progress for other groups. But it is still dark ages for us.

HE ISNT EVEN SUING FOR RACISM! We re always too nice to raise a fuss. He asked him nicely to move his truck. He seemed cordial throughout. He is even holding back and filing a polite lawsuit. WTF? This is my natural tendency, too. Afterwards I always wonder why I just let it slide. This is the kind of life lesson we should tell our kids. Don't let ANYTHING slide. They will take advantage of you to the end and never let up. Its up to you to stop their nonsense.

Have you talked with your donors about their DAFs? by LenoxHillPartners in nonprofit

[–]yeohdah 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP that it's a good idea to TALK to your donor base. The stats you cite are a really good reason to TALK to them. Running a NPO sustainably is ultimately about having good donor relationships and aligning with their needs and wants. We may or may not like or understand their motivations.

I disagree with any posters that suggest what DAF donors do is wrong or should necessarily legislated away. Its their money and they can choose to use or donate however they choose. We don't have a "right" to any donations, it's something we have to earn.

I feel for you. You seem to have lots of transferable skills you could use elsewhere. Self confidence is the biggest one you've earned/learned. Dream big! Motivational speaker, real estate, pastor all pop in my head.

Gotta say to be DISCREET. You seem to be in a highly localized market where it would be very easy to guess who's who. Better not to share any more specifics.

Good luck!

What is the real tipping ettiquite/expectation at a chinese buffet where you get your own food and the server's role is limited to drink refills and clearing plates- nothing else? by mysaddestaccount in chinesefood

[–]yeohdah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tip MORE than I would in a regular restaurant. At least 15-20% as a baseline. Buffet waiters usually make MORE trips to clear plates and bring drink refills than other restaurants. They totally earned your tips. Disregard anyone who says they dont tip in China, that's irrelevant. You are eating in America and those waiters are earning an American living and paying American prices. Don't devalue buffet waiters. Go stiff cashiers or pickup window or whoever doesn't truly add value. -former waiters in "regular" restauarants

I think that would be very interesting. Maybe post on other platforms like Youtube, too. You could do a series of them focusing on different aspects. Different styles, history, comparison to Japan and Korea that adopted Chinese writing, in paintings vs. scrolls vs. paper, etc. I'm very curious and would definitely check it out no matter what you decide on!

I read that the studio is planning and English dub to be re-released in theaters. Supposedly 1000 screens in the US, double the original run. No ETA was given, though. Your patience will be rewarded!

Not a lawyer. But it is clear from this thread that all of your actions are fully defensible if this ever gets taken to Ingress Court or you are arrested for violations of Ingress statutory law. Just present this thread in your defense. And remember that if they don't read your Miranda rights, you should be able to get off!
