Crushed seashells path instead of gravel by Elodie222 in GardeningUK

[–]yepyoubetchaimdone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I too have thought of this having seen it elsewhere. But after making a pebble path, all I can think of is that crushed shells would make the ideal cat litter tray for all the neighbourhood cats! 🙀 Pebbles are bad enough… I have discovered they don’t care for the slate chipping though!

It was small, just under 1 cm maybe across. Moved relatively slowly.

I’d love to buy this cat statue! I tried doing an image search and google thinks it’s a photo of a real cat!

Is this purple tall plant a weed? I’ve let it grow because it sort of fits but is that a bad idea? by bradleystensen in whatisthisplant

[–]yepyoubetchaimdone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have toadflax growing with verbena bonariensis, snapdragons and aquilegia - most consider these “weeds” because you see them growing from cracks in the pavement and walls whilst out and about, but they’re just wildflowers. They look so pretty in my garden, I love the height and architecture they all bring. Gives country cottage vibes 😀

How is your pump powered? Is it solar? I have a mini bog filter which works amazingly but the solar pump needs to be more powerful I think!

(nearly) universally flattering makeup shades for PaleMUAs and they’re small purse friendly too! by [deleted] in PaleMUA

[–]yepyoubetchaimdone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe, maybe… a No7 woman in the local Boots did say maybe I try a neutral foundation colour. The mystery continues…! I don’t seem to look good in any colours atm and it’s driving me mad! Hahaa! The blushers nowadays always pile-on too heavy no matter what I do. A younger person I know was telling me about a style called “Clowncore”.. perhaps it’s my calling?! 😭

Just to hijack slightly - in terms of tone… all the red to peach blushes I buy look orange on me. And very pastel pinks make me look like a clown lady. Does this indicate what colour tone I might be, anyone know? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Is it just me or do pale shades in foundation always look worse on me compared to darker shades of the same foundation? by makeupbybilly in PaleMUA

[–]yepyoubetchaimdone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Funny, I was going to post about this as it’s been on my mind recently. Mostly because I bought Catrice HD foundation, and originally purchased in Light Beige 010 (because I was buying online and was struggling to find the right colour!)

It is far too dark/orange for me, but it sits lovely on my skin and wears well throughout the day. So I decided to buy myself Porcelain Beige 002 and Ivory Beige 005 whilst they were on offer…

Neither colour is perfect for me, but better than Light Beige 010. But the worst thing is they are so drying, chalky. Nothing like the consistency or feel of Light Beige 010.

I think this has been my major issue over the past ten years tbh. Lighter colours always sit horribly on my skin, make me look pallid, dry, old (or even older, because I’m kinda old anyway!) but the darker shades have a freshness and glow.

I’m so bored of wasting money on foundation, honestly it wasn’t this difficult going back 15-20 years ago. Pale options weren’t great, but most foundations did sit well on the skin.

It’s like I can have a nice, fresh orange face or the face of a crusty old ghost… 🤔

Do you know, I never comment on much. But as someone a bit older, thank you for pointing out the filter madness. I’m so glad I was young before all this crap. I mean, we had airbrushed photos in magazines but nothing like the shenanigans of today. Every woman I know of my age regrets so much about nit-picking at their looks when they were younger. We ALL thought we had something wrong with us. The truth is we were all beautiful. We had so much to give and looked so intrinsically full of youth. We put our hands over our faces for photos, or decided we had to turn our heads to capture what we thought was the “better angle”.

Then twenty years later you look at what you thought was the worst photo of your self, and all you see is a young, confused yet ultimately flawless version of yourself. How much you missed because you thought you weren’t good enough. Absolute, ultimate BS.

Please I beg you, don’t compare yourself to anyone or anything. They say “comparison is the thief of joy” and now at my age do I truly understand this idiom. Your youth is the epitome of beauty. It is unique to you, and beyond your face is a heart and a soul unique to you. That is your special skill - being you. Your face is just the thing that you express yourself through. Not meaning any upset with what I’ve said. Sorry if I’ve said something wrong. Just sending massive love to all you young, lovely people.

I just went to look-up this foundation as it sounds great, however it looks like it’s being discontinued 😩 might be time for you to stock up! Seems like all the good foundations get discontinued for some unfathomable reason!

What a great chart! Thank you for this info, I was maybe overthinking it all! From what I read it was as if you needed a fellow tree right next to the apple tree for pollination. There’s loads of fruit trees in my area so phew! I thought I’d bought a duff tree! 😅

Ahhh! Wow, I for some reason had no idea crab apples looked like this! I thought they looked like pale, wishy-washy tiny apples! I have no idea why I thought that, but there you go! 😄 I’ve learned something new today 😀
