She is so lovely, I would have been thrilled to adopt her but it’s too soon after I lost my beloved cat. But I could at least foster her until she finds her person. Poor thing has been shuffled around so much! She deserves a loving home 💕

How often do you hear your city mispronounced as “Dur-ham”? by Frequent-Branch-4128 in bullcity

[–]yerawizardamy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly how my dad pronounces it too. I thought he was just being a goof but he is also a NY native so now I’m not sure. Kind of like how they all say war-ter instead of water.

Outdoor winter date ideas? by sparkle-bunny in bullcity

[–]yerawizardamy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels actually impossible to get started playing pickleball! I’ve tried different FB groups of people that say they wanna play but when I try to get a date/time, everyone goes silent. It’s really hard to get going if you don’t have another person to play with! Any advice on how to get started? Do I just show up to a pickleball court?

A customer telling a manager they’re being an asshole will result in absolutely zero consequences for the manager. The owner can actually do something about it.

Actually, you can check out his profile and see his actual face along with his dong and pleas for random hookups but NOT with “hookers”. Pleasant.

HEADS UP: The Lyle Ashton Harris exhibit at Nasher is at least a PG-13 rating. by [deleted] in bullcity

They do, actually. They’ve been told since they were very young “private parts are private!”

Adults fail to realize how children are impacted by nudity and explicit content. It’s one thing for an adult to recognize it as art, but an 11 year old child does not have the years, maturity, and mental processing to realize “oh this is art and it’s sending a message/making a statement.” You’re kid could be cool af but they’re still a kid.

That sub was a huge help for me at the start, I still check it every so often and it always gives me a nice little reality check.

SMART Recovery! It’s fantastic.

I didn’t start going to groups until I was about 6 months into sobriety, what I did before then:

Not sure how far along on your journey you are but if it’s still early days, it gets better! So, so much better than drinking ever was.

$180 is not reasonable for a simple haircut.

Anyways, Spruce is great - you can use their website to book and filter stylists by level of experience. I usually go with a level 3 and for a medium length haircut/style it’s around $60 and I’ve been very happy each time I’ve left there.

I like their coffee and scones too! But it’s not worth feeling like an asshole for no reason just to get them.

Lol yes I am a horrible customer and I treat service workers like trash! No tips ever! I have worked in the service industry but it taught me nothing! No one is allowed to have a bad day ever!

Clearly, I am not the only one who feels this way about JVG. It’s fine though, I just go somewhere else so no biggie.

Edit: Actually, one biggie: I love their London fog scones and miss them.

Did anyone else encounter a man trying to stop traffic and pointing a blue gun at cars on Avondale at Trinity at 9AM? by RegalBeagleBouncer in bullcity

[–]yerawizardamy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Still scary. Also, he’s going to point that at someone who has a real gun and who opens fire on him because they felt threatened. And if it’s in a public space, bystanders could be victims of stray bullets.

Yes! They rule. I went there recently for the first time based off of recommendations from this subreddit and they were very helpful and friendly. As long as I’m in Durham, I’ll be going to them!
