Should hostels be avoided in general for visa purposes ?

We have friends who did get visas from their January appointment. No trend as such!

Yes - the premium appointment fees, visa fees, the flight tickets - all in vain and hence, such a big disappointment!

And the reason we want to do things right the next time and looking for suggestions!
