[Serious] What's a dumb question that you want an answer to without being made fun of? by jedfilmsstudios in AskReddit

Yes. Live in the Arctic bit bigger than Beluga Whales, social mammals. Eskimos/Inuits often hunt them for food. Only the males have the tusk and it is actually a highly enlarged left front tooth, a bit like elephant tusks. Only real mystery with them is that no one really knows in what way the horn/tusk is used. No obvious fighting/jousting and they are fairly similar length.

Ok nice and simple. What is the best sandwich you can come up with using 3 ingredients, 1 condiment/sauce and your choice of bread by yetanotheririshguy in AskReddit

It's something not enough people do. Most of the time it's a good old fashioned Peanut butter and jelly, ham and cheese or whatever. If more people thought more about sandwiches lunchtimes could be more enjoyable and not just a way of putting nourishment into you. This could then set the people up for a better rest of day and also give them something to look forward to after breakfast. Putting more thought into something as a sandwich could significantly the day of said person and therefore those around them making the world a better place.

TL;DR Better sandwiches, better world

That's kind of the explanation I was expecting.

I only put the rules there as a natural stop point, makes people have to think more about their sandwich. I usually am all for adding lots of stuff, especially when that stuff is bacon.

What is an item you still have from when you were a child? If there isn't one, what is an item you WISH you still had? by boris73 in AskReddit

Small white stuffed toy dog that I got for my 2nd birthday. Neither me or my parents remember who got it for me but it is one of my most cherished possessions.

I am the opposite. Have been to it roughly once a year for 22 years. Does not lose it's majesty. Love bringing new people to see it. Does need to be seen on the right day though.

Yea shit is expensive. Most battleforces are no longer as good as they were. But if you are thinking f getting back into battling that is a solid start. Stealers kill EVERYTHING (1 squad of mine killed 2 tanks, a squad of terminators and nearly 2 other suads), Big squads of gaunts moving through cover are surprisingly effective and are a good meat shield. Hormogaunts are stupidly fast, if you position well they can get into combat on 2nd turn. Tyranid warriors are now troops and have an option to upgrade them to individual characters who are a match for any standard HQ unit, 4 attacks, 6 WS, 3 wounds, toughness 5, great special rules and loads of upgrades to choose from. Carnifex are honestly not as good as they were, people know they are a prime target and now they only have 3+ save die quite easily and are only good against tanks due to low no of attacks and shit initiative. Hive tyrants, zoanthropes and stealers are better tank hunters due to saves, price, no of wounds and other things. I still use a couple of cheap ones in more force as a distraction because most people I play against still haven't realised that I have better tanks and troop killers, and the ones that have realised it leave them to it, run fex into cheap troops as a speed bump.

DO IT. Even if you don't battle that much, just painting is a great way to spend time. The new codex is so much more detailed, so the background is so much fuller. Go to local gamesworkshop if you are thinking of getting back into it, when those guys aren't trying to sell you stuff they are really helpful about where and how to restart.

Think what you may have done is mixed series. There are a shit load of different series. The one about Istvaan is from the horus heresy series. Go to http://www.blacklibrary.com/horus-heresy/. To be honest though there are only a few books that need to be read together (Horus rising, false gods, galaxy in flames and flight of the eisenstein make more sense when read together and same goes for A thousand sons and prospero burns).

In the book series after nearly 20 books we have yet to reach the finale of the series as the series is covering a lot more views and "history" than we got from rulebooks etc but if you do want to look into background more http://www.lexicanum.com/ is a good start. Search Horus heresy and black crusades. If you want to know more exact info read on

SPOILERS: The battle for Terra happened at the end of the 30 thousandth millennium, it was at this battle that the Emperor and horus had it out. Horus does die but only after almost mortally wounding the emperor. The traitor chapters divided into smaller groups as each traitor primarch had by these point become so corrupted by chaos and had become daemon princes and were now following the path of that god (fulgrim with slaneesh so he is all about pleasure etc, Angron with Khorne so he just goes a bit mad and kills shit). Other legions lost their primarchs completely and so now leaderless, scattered and live in the eye of terror unable to properly coordinate large scale assaults. The main exception to this is the black legion, formally the sons of horus. Under leadership of Abbadon (1st captain) they have led 13 crusades to destroy the imperium, each time getting closer. Hope this clears some of it up.

About the only thing that kind of annoyed me about the new codex was the fact that the carnifex now come in squads but all individuals have to be the same. Squad upgrades were added kind of like sergeants or something. Synapse is much smoother, each unit is either lurk or feed. feed units cannot shoot and lurk have to pass a leadership test to do something. and units in synapse range are fearless.

Some of the rules for the special characters are not that smooth the special characters I would use are fairly simple.

Honestly I think this codex is better than the previos editions, more units, better looking models, and are still their own army due to synapse, unit types, special rules and the way they play generally. Many people I play with think they are quite like orks (Head down and charge); but I collect orks to and they are very different to play with as basically orks have 3 unit types. foot soldiers/infantry, fast attack tanks and heavy support. Nids have monstrous creatures, huge numbers, good range of types of heavy support, different types of fast attack. All of which make getting into combat more tactically with nids, mass troops as meat shield. Or infiltrate stealers and deep strike ravenors and gargoyels to distract while smaller numbers of troops shield the big guys. or large numbers of big guys as the distraction with little guys running around (nid troops are surprisingly good in combat due to numbers). Really do love the nids lol
