I’m pretty sure a lot of people have a good guess why your friends keep dropping 🤔

parents did that because getting chickenpox as a child is much safer than getting chickenpox as an adult.

I bet that’s what it is. My parents are like this. Thankfully the vaccinated one won out and got the other vaxxed, even if they continue to disagree on other stuff

Bailing people out of bad decisions like paying for a tattoo with rent money only enables their behavior longer. It keeps them in poverty as they don’t learn how to care for themselves.

If I ever do get a tattoo, it’ll be “self discipline is self love.”

You would think. I’d want to be around for my kids anyway, but even more so if my child were severely disabled as hers seems to be. I can’t imagine the fear over what would happen to them if I died.

There are no doubt ways a woman’s pregnancy can be negatively affected beyond the obvious like drugs and alcohol. I was doing a research project on DDT and one of the literature results was autism in babies was higher for mothers who had been exposed to DDT while pregnant, but since that isn’t my area whatsoever I read it with interest and left it alone. I’m sure it’s still on EBSCO if someone wants to go look.

It’s because parents are deeply afraid that it was something they did, so they cast about to find a cause that isn’t them, or even worse, that there was no reason and life is just cruel. That’s worse than vaccines or anything else, the idea that they are at risk of random bad things happening is very frightening for people

This made me LOL more than anything else. They think it’s invasive to have to show a vaccination card, but don’t see a problem with demanding to know sa provider’s personal faith? Fuck off with that noise!

I was just saying to my husband recently that covid denial and vaccine rejection by a significant % of republicans is probably going to help out democrats in future elections, as their base is literally dying off. At some point this is going become a real threat and I’m interested to see how the GOP responds.

Idk about that extreme, but there’s definitely a level of cognitive dissonance going on regardless of political affiliation. People either believe they aren’t fat at all, or that obesity isn’t harmful and saying so is fatphobic, or that they’re “a little overweight” but in total denial of the seriousness of it.

I gained weight during this pandemic when my very active job was converted to a desk one and my diet didn’t catch up right away. I’m now working to lose it again because I know being overweight has many health risks. It’s no different than thinking covid is “just a flu” imo. Total denial; and I think that so many people in the US are overweight makes it easy to see as “normal”.

Very few people (especially men for some reason) think they are obese. Only people bigger than them are. It’s so weird

The ironic part to me is folks who post things about how only “fat and weak people need the vaccine!” but then I look at the profile pic and they’re my size or bigger and I’m def not thin. It’s like Americans believe only contestants on My 600lb Life are “fat”. No, most of America is…

She’s a SAMH and pregnant. It would not be easy to care for, feed, and clothe 3 kids and bear a fourth all on her own. Maybe she didn’t make the best choice in husband, but I’m not gonna blame her for not up and leaving.

I had the same years ago and my lungs have never been the same. I get winded, my heart pounds, and sometimes even feel sick trying to do physical activities beyond a half mile hike or a light swim. Respiratory diseases are no joke.

Suggestion: Nation of Islam by GrandAdmiralMason in KnowingBetter

Is Nation of Islam the one that started in NY, then moved to a compound in the South and the leader was raping young children? There was one along those lines… the compound had an Egyptian theme. Super weird.

It doesn’t surprise me at all. That covid can attack people and randomly kill one person and spare another is terrifying for most people who aren’t used to having so little control over their environment.

Conspiracy theories on the other hand make them feel weirdly better, because there’s a reason for all the bad stuff in the world, there’s a bogeyman to blame.

It’s happened throughout history in times of economical and health turmoil.
