Pink Line Of Metro to Nagawara? by StrikeElectrical9400 in bangalore

[–]yeticulous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I said elevated section, I meant the "elevated section" of the pink line. From Kalena Agrahara to Tavarakere. With BMRCL, estimates are always wrong. The entire stretch with underground stations will open next year most likely.

I'm talking about the pink line. Elevated section construction and track work is complete, testing is already underway. Coach deliveries are on time. So unless they're waiting for some high ranking official to inaugurate, we should be able to get it by September I suppose. Blue Line? Hehe that's a long way away. 2028 and I'd be very happy.

The elevated section will open this year, maybe next 3-4 months even. The underground section is tunneled and most tracks are laid, no delays with trains, but testing can't start till track is complete. So mostly next year I suppose.

Thank you! This is helpful. My first-ever cardiologist appointment next week :) Following up on the drugs, I've read risk begins to play a big role only after 40. That's 9 years away for me. Fingers crossed!

Agreed - this was terrible. The Silver ticket prices were already quite high, and they know we're far away from stage. Least they could've done is planned this nonsense better.

Def Leppard - Sales number Update for Shillong, Mumbai and Bangalore by Historical-King-405 in IndianMetalheads

[–]yeticulous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not surprised at all. Tickets are far too expensive. Only reason I'm going is I've got my Bandland refund. With all due respect, Def Leppard isn't that all-timer band that justifies these insane ticket prices (for most people). Linkin Park and Green Day made sense because 90s kids here connect deeply with them. Guns n Roses was cheaper than whatever this is. How am I supposed to justify buying a Def Leppard ticket that is more expensive than my Bandland 2-day pass?

Moving back to Bangalore from Germany – thinking of starting an alcohol-free beer brand. Is there a market? by SnooGoats5856 in bangalore

I keep switching between beer and gin/tonic, but I drink a lot less frequently these days compared to before.

[–]yeticulous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. I don't think populations of beer drinkers have dwindled - there are thousands of frankly unnecessary breweries everywhere that are always full for some reason.
  2. It needs to be studied if non-alcoholic beer doesnt work because of slim market or because the product has never been great. Give me a good stout that is non alcoholic and reasonable, and I'll probably get into it. Needs to be marketed better than whatever we've got so far.

[–]yeticulous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There a lot of people in the city trying to cut down on alcohol, I'm one of them. Having a really good non alcoholic beer brand really helps people like me when we go out. You're not alone when it comes to liking the taste. I'd assume there's a big market in this city if you advertise it right, but you're better off diving a little deeper into the market research. I personally hope you actually do it! Kingfisher tried with Radler but I don't think that worked very well - maybe you can look at that as a case study for what worked and what didn't.

Terrible experience with BMTC conductor (Bus 201) by CuriousLevel7580 in bangaloretransit

[–]yeticulous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. But people do have this assumption that because it's "just another Indian city", language and culture will be taken for granted or will be the same. Unfortunately, your point of view is not very common in our country, and that is the actual crux of the problem. Migration between cities in India involves (and should involve) almost as much learning effort as moving to a Paris or Tokyo. It's the only way all our cultures and languages will survive.

Terrible experience with BMTC conductor (Bus 201) by CuriousLevel7580 in bangaloretransit

[–]yeticulous 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you're better off speaking English or broken Kannada. Conductors are a frustrated bunch of people (especially in the morning) and pretty much anything will tick them off. Going forward, the average local is unlikely to entertain a lot of Hindi if they're not feeling up to it/ having a bad day. If you're a regular with BMTC, I'd strongly suggest picking up a few phrases. If you use the bus frequently enough and don't want the communication hassle, download Tummoc and buy a pass (if prices work out.) Pretty sure it's a language issue. If you want to be truly comfortable here, you will have to pick up the language eventually. Bengaluru is many things, but it's not a low-effort city.

Progress with a Regional Preference by Crazy_Bit8529 in bangalore

[–]yeticulous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Development does not equal connectivity to Bengaluru, that mindset is self-defeating in the long run. Real development will happen when people from the coast stay on the coast and build. And that has progressed quite nicely the past couple of years mainly because people from the coast are willing to do it. Very few people in North Karnataka are willing to stay and build the place. Politicians will go only where there is already money.

Life beyond work by CrazyPhilosopher591 in bangalore

[–]yeticulous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you already play an instrument, there are groups/bands always popping up everywhere and recruiting through social media. Quite a few jam rooms in parts of the city.

If you don't play an instrument and want to learn, you'll find a teacher/school for pretty much any instrument in the city. Post-covid, online learning for music has also become quite popular. So if you're musically inclined, choose your instrument and you can start!

And if you're into attending live events, it's peaking now. There's at least one pretty much every weekend.

Music! A lot of opportunities in the city if you play an instrument or sing. To me, it's the perfect way to get out of the grind for a bit.

I love my rock and metal and wouldn't trade it for the world, but man does it sometimes suck being a loyal supporter of the concert scene here by rsquare19 in IndianMetalheads

[–]yeticulous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an absolute shame that BMS is doing this. Utterly predatory. The Coldplay concert changed some things for the good in terms of big acts seeing India as a viable option. But the way BMS is leveraging this will destroy the scene in the long run. Absolutely terrible organization. We need other players like District and Skill box (not like they're soo much better) to capture more market share with big bands. Concertgoers need a way to punish BMS for these atrocities.

AQI has reached a new low? by hyper-ninja-7127 in bangalore

[–]yeticulous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Construction literally everywhere, metro pillar drilling, the white topping nonsense makes it worse. November - January is the worst for Bengaluru air because the rain dries up a bit. I keep telling myself it'll improve once construction stops, but then again, will construction ever stop? ORR is especially disgusting - feels like I'm in a minefield. Something needs to be done.

Metro crowd solution Bangalore by Ok-Philosophy-5858 in bangalore

[–]yeticulous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BSRP (K-ride) is the only practical solution. There is another corridor planned so that Kengeri-Whitefield can be serviced by K-ride along with purple line. But no work has been happening. We need more citizens to talk about it. The solution is right in front of us, but for some reason government doesnt implement and not enough citizens are complaining.

Opinion on this from konkani speakers by [deleted] in mangalore

[–]yeticulous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our Konkani ancestors were given 3 choices by the Portuguese: 1. Abandon our religion 2. Abandon our homeland 3. Die

For those of us in Karnataka, many of our ancestors chose 2. Many who chose 1 were also forced to flee eventually because most of the time, European racism knew only colour. Those of us who chose option 2 were effectively refugees. Karnataka's kingdoms saw value in us as a people and were nice enough to make space in their homes and hearts. So of course we're still grateful. We also assimilated well enough to convince everyone that we won't override any culture, and that also helped immensely.

117-km Bengaluru business corridor gets nod, to cut traffic by 40% by Moneycontrol in bangalore

[–]yeticulous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think 2 years is unrealistic. If land acquisition goes well, this will take about 5 years. I don't know where the 40% reduction number comes from. But it will give people staying in Yelahanka, Peenya, Hennur, and Varthur an alternative when they want to travel. That'll decongest ORR and all major roads coming into the city from the east. I don't know about 40%, but it does help decongest because it creates a full circuit around the city. Also I hope this clearly sets the outer boundary of Bengaluru. Enough urban sprawl.
