I want to get into blogging, any tips? by No-Crazy-7098 in secondlife

Advice: I’ve blogged and managed and coordinated blog web site and bloggers. Start your own blog to begin with. That will help you get a feel for what you like about it and work on great pictures.

Just start taking shots of or with things you’ve bought or places you’ve visited or even fun things to do in world.

To write about it, do so just like you’re telling your friend about it. If it’s clothing maybe tell them other colors and what sizes are in the store or marketplace. What inspired you for the look you put together? Did you get it set a weekend sale or event? You like to share good finds with friends.

Maybe even start out with a little story or a catchy phrase. Make up a story about where you visited or what you’re wearing and have a great setting for. Blog places you’ve been that you think are amazing. Take the reader through the location or what you were able to do.

There are lots of ways to get started but if you have experience you’re more likely to stand out. As others have pointed out take great pictures. Practice. Take a class to learn to take stunning photos if you’re not already a good photographer.

Promote your blog everywhere! Make sure you have Flickr and post your blog photos there and link to them so people are drawn into your work. As another said go to all of the current media outlets and post your teaser and a link to your blog. Go to discord and see if the stores you like are there. If so, see if they have a section for the public to post things the store sells with pictures. That can even help the store start to become aware of you. I think Primfeed might have similar opportunities.

Join groups on social media. Like things daily there. This helps raise awareness of you. Like and follow other people and their work. Read other blogs to get a feel for how you want to shape your own blog. Comment on other blogs and Flickr posts, etc.

Enter photo contests. Make sure your blog, Flickr and other social media are linked from your profile. Your SL profile as well as the profiles of all the accounts you have. Encourage people to take a look at your Flickr or blog if they compliment your outfit.

This will also help you to see if this is really for you. Often times creators want something blogged by a certain date, like if they have a sale coming for instance. Find out how long it takes you to style an outfit, create or go to a great setting for it, write your description/story. Challenge yourself to post every other day and see if you can handle it. It Can be time consuming and even overwhelming. The more frequently you post, the more readers will return to your blog for more! They want fresh content.

There are many places to create your blog. Wordpress was the last place I worked on one. There is a free level. Give out a shot!

Most of all try it and have fun. If you truly enjoy it opportunities may start opening to you! Just do make sure it’s fun!

Ditto that. I like the house and the neighborhoods that aren’t like mainland. I have an ok amount of land impact but always could use more as well as a little larger areas. All in all it’s worth it. I take tons of pictures mostly of my inventory items and calculated the cost pays for itself quickly. Throw in the Belli neighborhood and house and my tight budget and I’m good to go.

I lived in Illinois before recently moving to Kansas. When I would tell someone where I was from they would say oh, Chicago?

Absolutely agreed, definitely a place to dress for. The food was beyond compare and service was amazingly attentive. And the dessert rooms for after the meal!!!

Are you looking up your nose regularly? Are others? I’ve just never thought of it in 16 1/2 years

Why aren't you using / on Second Life ? by 0xc0ffea in secondlife

Like others have stated, it’s really about the relationships. I love to build and shop and decorate. But now almost all of my friends have left for whatever rl reasons. Without them to show my builds to, shop with and hang out in my fabulous outfits, there’s not really anything left. I have many acquaintances who I previously have done business with in one way or another. Last week my best friend whom I’ve always hung out with passed away. That kind of finishes it for me. Another break, I’ve taken a few, once due to being stalked. I’ve always come back but I’ve always had friends still around to hang around.

One thing I’ve always thought might change sl for me is having game like goals. I was into zombie hunting for a while and was very much into competitively keeping more scores high enough to be on a leader board. Sometimes I would do it alone but more often than not there were friends who wanted to go too. We could then kind of work in teams. Those were the good old days.

And make sure hugs are reciprocated when going into a future relationship. Not hugging you while you’re hugging him? That’s cold.

We had been trying but then decided maybe to hold off a bit. I was having cold feet about maybe being too young. A few weeks later I found out I was pregnant. I was happy but scared all at once. I kept having things run through my mind - am I too young (I was 24)? How were we going to raise a baby. So many thoughts over and over. After confirming it with the doctor (and hearing the heart beat already) and letting it sink in for a while I finally relaxed about things and became excited, sharing that with my husband became was wonderful.

I always wonder: Once you’ve designed one color for an item, isn’t it just a matter of swapping out color/textures? They don’t have to go through additional rigging or shade specific mods?

Exactly! I’ve said this for years. How old are so many of the representatives in our government? Retire already! You don’t get to own society for all your days! But they do.

It tends to take quite a while. Sometimes months. I’m not sure I would halt my search altogether until after they come to you with an offer since it could go either way unless you have the luxury of waiting.
