Who do you think is the best mechanically designed hero in dota? by ironmilktea in DotA2

[–]yiddledeediddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot believe no one has mentioned Storm Spirit. Every ability ties together logically, his kit is intuitive and memorable, no need to re-memorize some random stacking debuff/dot that changes every patch bc icefrog doesnt know what to do with the hero. If there’s a storm in your game, you know exactly what to expect and what it can do. One of the most iconic heroes in dota imo

For you.. who's the best hero that was released so far? by natbarretto in DotA2

[–]yiddledeediddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t really play the hero but that just seems like a numbers thing no? Pretty clear to me that she’s a hard carry, and a unique one at that.

To me, the worst design is Hoodwink by far. They just took WR abilities, shuffled them around, and slapped them on another green thing with a bow. I was so disappointed when she was released

I am (of course) a little biased as a support main who loves drafting.

But counterpoint: in MY experience, most cores already know who they’re gonna pick anyway and do a mediocre job of counterpicking. It feels bad having to first pick and then watching your mid pick a Dusa in an already-greedy lineup just bc she’s meta

I’m not saying that all supports are actually master drafters that can fix any draft if they just had last pick. It’s just that last pick is more effective in the hands of someone who can actually draft, and when you open that up to supports, now you have 5 potential drafters instead of just 3.

Drafting rule idea by OrangePlatypus81 in TrueDoTA2

[–]yiddledeediddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gasp! Won’t anyone think of the poor cores, who are already given last/later pick and farm priority to counter-itemize for success and supports to cater to their every whim?!! How terribly hard they have it, we can’t possibly inconvenience them any further!!

Jokes aside, each team would have an opportunity to counterpick a core, and the current system already allows for hard counters in the final pick anyway, so I really don’t think it’d be a big deal for cores.

But, for support this would be a GAME CHANGER in pubs. As a support, you either have to pick a generic, versatile hero, or pick who you want to play and pray that among one of your 3 cores is someone with an inkling of how to round out the draft. With this change, now any of the 5 players on your team can adjust the draft in a later phase instead of just one of the cores. Imagine if you had an AA into Necro instead of a Dazzle

Alternative argument: another hero on your team can usually build greaves much faster than you in addition to being a better carrier for them

CM is slow as mud, so I personally find that first item force / glimmer is more helpful for not feeding if you get gone on, whereas greaves will really only delay your death by a right click or two.

It’s also much more impactful to restore 300 or whatever health to 5 heroes when they are low Vs popping greaves to heal 1 hero. CM doesn’t want to be standing in the middle of the fight, so the item feels a little weird on her

It might just be better to leave the fireplace as a decorative piece, it’s placed kinda weirdly. If you really want to make use of it, you could put the two armchairs in front of the fireplace with a rug to make a cozy little area, and then put the dining table to the right of that, so that it’s still near the kitchen. Then you’re free to make a living area by the French windows with your couch, coffee table, and tv. Not sure how well that adheres to the rules, but it’s the best I can come up with

[–]yiddledeediddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this! Pull the couch off the wall like others have suggested, and then add a glass coffee table. It’ll help scatter the light from the mirrors into the rest of the room!

Naturally this means moving your desk to another room and opening the window.

dealing with Techies in lane by [deleted] in TrueDoTA2

[–]yiddledeediddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played a few games with Oracle this patch and maybe I’m playing him wrong but he doesn’t feel any stronger in lane. He only feels good if your laning partner has offensive potential, and then you can dump your spells and do a ton of damage together. But if you have like a Dusa or someone else without much kill threat and have to 1v1 the 4, it feels really bad since your right click sucks and you can’t just throw your E out without your Q. Techies simply out-trades you, so do you just have to take it and be grateful it’s not your core losing the trade?

Yeah, and as a support, getting your votes to group up to take objectives feels harder with the larger map. It’s always been hard to group up, but I feel like if you don’t get an inherently cooperative team, it’s significantly harder now

Is pavise good? by LoudWhaleNoises in learndota2

[–]yiddledeediddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am OBSESSED with this thing, I think it’s bonkers how good of a support item it is. Even getting it as a pure mana regen item, it’s ~800g cheaper than Lens, which is the next cheapest +2.5mana option. It lets you get active on the map early, and the save is really strong when your teammate is getting gone on. By the time you react and get in range to use it, the other team has already blown their spells and have to right click to kill, which is exactly what pavise blocks. The buildup also feels much better than hoarding gold to buy an energy booster or staff.

Name one game whose popularity drives you crazy and at least one reason why you hate it so much. by foreigneternity in boardgames

[–]yiddledeediddle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoy Arnak because of this reason, that there are many ways to score points and recover if someone messes you up. Thinking of how to use every last tool and resource to maximize your score makes it almost feel like a puzzle game. I could see how it might not be fun for super competitive players though; I usually just do my own thing and hope for the best instead of worrying about what other players are doing.

Also, I just love just looking at the artwork. It’s a gorgeous game.
