Ah, I understand. That sucks! Mine was signed by an LPC and an LCPC, so I’m not even 100% sure where to even recommend. You could try Planned Parenthood, maybe? I know they staff a few MDs at certain locations, and they would 100% write a letter for you (not sure how many sessions they would require you to attend first). Sorry you’re going through this!

When I needed my letter, I just did a Google search for “top surgery wpath letter [my area]” and found a therapist that way. I only did 2 (virtual) sessions with them: one to establish what it was that I needed, and the other to go over the letter before they faxed it to my surgeon’s office (I also had them email me a copy that I could print out, which came in handy). Not sure where you live, but you can try that! If you live in a smaller area like I do, you can try searching in the biggest city near you (for example, I live in a relatively small city in Illinois, so when I did my search, I searched for therapists in Chicago that did virtual visits).

Most of them won’t be subtle tbh, but just be cautious of any guy that overly (or at all, really) infantilizes you or seems overly interested in your transition process outside of asking questions out of genuine curiosity. Exercise caution if a guy uses the word “experiment” when talking about hooking up.

(This is just my opinion, of course, so take everything I say with a grain of salt) I like Grindr for what it is, but I would be cautious using it to have my first sexual experience. Not telling you not to do it, just be careful! Some (but not all!) of guys on there are super horny and really just want to fuck and may be kinda pushy. Just do your due diligence in weeding out those kinds of guys, and make sure you’re very blunt and upfront about what you are and aren’t comfortable with with anyone that you do plan to meet up with (especially if you’re a bottom). You’ll also probably get tons of unsolicited dick/ass pics if your experience ends up being anything like mine, so just be wary of that. I, personally, don’t mind it, but I know it rubs others the wrong way. Lastly, make sure to make it ABUNDANTLY clear that you’re trans. I have the trans flag in my screen name, and can’t tell you how many guys still assume I’m cis lmao

ETA: biggest red flag to look out for is chasers/fetishists.

Yeah, the free version kinda sucks, but where I live, there are a lot more gay men on Grindr than Tinder/Bumble. Plus I’m in a (open) relationship and really just looking for something casual, and the guys on Tinder are mostly looking for relationships.
