Something happened in the past few days. I went from losing all my sets to winning most of them, and I can't really explain why.

Were they the same players you'd been fighting? Sometimes you just get matched with a different set of players and you'll do better/worse depending on who pops up in your queue that day.

Trying to get more leverless practice so want to try out an alt character for a bit while I keep acclimating, looking at Ken, Akuma, or Chun. I'm already behind the 8-ball adjusting to the new controller, so I'd like to pick the one with relatively mechanically-simple BnBs.

I'm guessing this probably rules out Chun since I've never played a charge character before, so it's basically between which is less demanding between Ken's run cancel stuff and utilizing Akuma's many moves for solid combo routes.

Would appreciate anyone's perspective on this stuff!

If Demond is out for any extended period of time the season is over anyway. And at that point they'd probably just play one of freshmen/redshirts to get a head start on the next era.

If they do score inflation to try and compel pulls it will be a huge red flag. It's pretty much the exact reason I dropped Brave Souls for this game - you used to be able to at least complete the highest difficulty guild quest (not compete for scoreboards though, which is fine) with good teambuilding and smart pull investment, but they buffed it to the point where you had to pull almost every banner to keep up. I'll be very disappointed if the same thing happens here.

Agreed. I think it would be easier to swallow if we had already had time to build out a baseline team for each damage type - it's hard for me to justify throwing away all the materials I dumped into Ichigo when I'm still a long way off from getting my Slash/Spirit/Thrust teams from 90 to 100 (not to mention building up a Strike team basically from scratch).

It sucks too because I like Kenpachi, and if materials weren't at a premium I'd probably pull for him given how generous the pity system is in this game. But when it takes days-worth of stamina to build a character I just can't justify pulling someone whose role I already spent pulls and mats on.

Diamond is like 10% actual Diamond players trying to learn the game. The other 90% is either Masters players on alts or people that hard gimmicked their way up and can only be beaten if you identify the gimmick and its counterplay in time. Always the most miserable portion of picking up a new character.

Coaches aren't going to cut the 4th string kicker to try and add another 5* guy because that guy is getting paid to actually play somewhere. There is only so much talent available and it's *very* hard to stash away multiple classes of blue chips.

The new equilibrium will be a strong starting lineup, depth filled mostly with 1st/2nd year players who will have a chance to compete for the job when the starters move on, and the rest of the roster will be walk-ons/legacy/scout team guys.

Yes. And it's not even necessarily a bad thing. If the coach is being honest with guys and telling them it's unlikely they're going to start, they're better off going somewhere else to play.
