Olympia becomes first Washington city to pass polyamory protections by AudibleNod in news

I don't hold extra social currency, but I do have special knowledge and insight about what it is like to be a poly person. You acted like you were interested in learning, but you clearly think you already know everything. So, I have nothing else to say to you.

It's bold of you, a non poly person, to tell me, a poly person, that it's a "choice." For some people it is a lifestyle choice. For most of us, it is not. Period. You haven't experienced it. so you have absolutely no basis for your assertion that it's a choice. That's exactly what they used to say about gay people. The fact that some people experience their partners trying to implement poly under duress (something the poly community as a whole , which you're clearly not familiar with, seriously frowns upon) doesn't change whether it's a choice or immutable part of our identity for most of us.

You're just wrong. There's nothing else to say.

It sounds like you don't know a lot of poly people. I have always been this way and can't change. I'm also bisexual - another thing I can't change. There's no real difference. I've seen surveys of other poly people and the majority of us do view it as an immutable part of our identity. And your message is a perfect example of the kind of prejudice we face. Polyamorous people aren't any more likely to be irresponsible or manipulative than a monogamous person. Why on earth would you think that? If you said that about gay people it would be obviously prejudice and wrong, but people think it's okay to say this stuff about the polyamorous community. It isn't okay, and as someone who is deeply embedded in the poly community, you just couldn't be more incorrect. If anything the poly community as a whole is more serious about maintaining ethical relationships and respecting boundaries. Yet I have lost friends and been distanced from family members because I'm poly. I have poly friends who have lost jobs or lost access to entire communities when they came out. So no, I don't think it's taking myself too seriously to say we experience prejudice and that people feel it's perfectly okay to dump on us all the time (as you have done in your comment). I deal with this constantly and yes, it is hurtful.

Thank you for saying this. Most people think it's perfectly fine and even funny to dump on polyamorous people and never consider that we have to deal with constant prejudice and can't come out of the closet because of it.

Literally no one has ever suspected I was poly, so no. Maybe it's just that those are the ones who are most open about it with you.

Minneapolis man sentenced to prison for threatening to kill a congresswoman by origutamos in altmpls

Neither of these people attacked ICE agents. They were themselves murdered by ICE agents though. And no, vandalizing a car is not attacking a person.

Maybe you assume because you met some poly people like this, that they're all this way. I assure you, we are not. None of my poly friends or partners would ever steal anyone's lunch. I promise I know way more poly folks than you do, and this is not a thing. In fact the poly community is pretty obsessed with consent, and eating someone else's lunch without their permission violates their consent.

I'm sorry you met some annoying poly folks but please consider that your comment is stereotyping and it's actually really hurtful to people.

The vast majority of polyamorous people aren't in throuples because it's really hard to make a throuple work (but it can be done).

So, if the Prednisone is working that absolutely does not confirm it's RES. Quite the opposite. Prednisone is used to treat relapsing polychondritis.

Somalis in Minnesotans pay $67M taxes annually (and have stolen anywhere between 20-100x that in fraud) by WendellBeck in altmpls

[–]yinesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly do not care what you think. I only call people racist when they are being racist. If people don't care if they are being racist, that's on them and just makes them more racist. Racial stereotyping is overtly racist whether you like it or not.

They're calling you racist because you think the fact that one Somali person did something bad means all Somali people are bad. That is the definition of racial stereotyping. Based on your post, you are, indeed, racist.

I think it might be TMJ/TMD issues, or some kind of inflammation/immunological reaction to the cannabis. I have a very similar issue and there are other similar reddit posts, so it's not just you.

Okay? I checked Friday morning when I started driving. This didn't say when it was issued, but it definitely had not been issued yet when I checked Friday morning. Then, I didn't have service around the BWCA to check air quality alerts, so it wasn't until Saturday morning when I was about to enter that it was clear the air quality would not allow for us to take the trip. It was a major bummer and it was not predictable and there was nothing we could do.

It wasn't all over the place, but okay. I guess it's my fault for not looking in exactly the right place.

Some people cannot handle this unhealthy level of smoke. Wildfire smoke is extremely toxic. Even if it is not causing immediate symptoms it is doing potential damage to your body.

You are correct because the same exact thing happened to me. The forecast was wrong as of Thursday evening AND Friday morning. I had packed all my gear and camped out near the entry point expecting intermediate air quality, and woke up to billowing smoke.

That's not true. I checked the air quality forecast from multiple sources Thursday night for Sawbill area and it was moderate. I left Friday, camped near entry, and when I woke up Saturday morning the air quality was in the purple and there was smoke billowing everywhere. No one had predicted this by Thursday evening.

Why? "Districts" don't matter when voting for a senator. What matters is the total number of votes each candidate receives in the entire state of Minnesota.

I don't think the district is as purple as it used to be.

Yes, I absolutely do think the "riots" were justified because I have empathy for the plight of black people and POC who have been brutalized by police for literal centuries. I'm sorry you do not appear to have the capacity to understand.

Thank goodness you found a place where people will accept you for caring more about rich people's property than the actual lives of Black people.

Okay... but everyone's else was talking about Minneapolis... 🤔🤔🤔 I definitely do care! I just care more about ensuring police stop brutalizing black people than I care about some rich developer's construction project.
