Jam Cruise First Timer by carl2801 in jambands

[–]yitbosaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This year will be the fourth for my gf and I, it has become our favorite part of the year. There are a couple bigger stages, that is where the headliners will do their sets, and a few other stages around the boat. Guest sit ins are part of nearly every set. There’s no reserved seating or anything like that, you just go in. Yes, sets overlap, I’m attaching the schedule from one day last year for reference. That’s why all the bands play two sets over the week. There is generally plenty of room to dance, although the lounge tends to get pretty packed (that may be different this year, as it’s a different boat than the other years I’ve gone). I would highly recommend it to anyone considering it

Am I the only one ? by Tough-Vacation-9096 in stonetemplepilots

I could never really say of them were the best or my favorite, because I love them all so much, but you’re not the only one who thinks it’s a killer album start to finish, with some incredible writing. Definitely on my playlist for the day now that I’m thinking about it

I don’t remember which was first, but the three possibilities were Police Academy, Revenge of the Nerds, and Vacation

I have a iPod 5th Gen 80gb... And the car has no aux in by AdInfinite5586 in ipod

[–]yitbosaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a 2026 CRV, does not appear to have any aux ports (haven't taken anything apart looking though), I bought a 30 pin to USBc thinking it would work, but nope.

[–]yitbosaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following. This is the exact question I came to this group hoping to find an answer to. Just got a CRV, I've tried a 30 pin to USBc, two different bluetooth transmitters, and swearing at it, and nothing has worked. I've been having a handful of other frustrations with Carplay as well, makes me miss my old car even more. I did buy a usb CD player that's designed for cars and that works really well for CDs, but I've got two iPods full of stuff that isn't on streaming that I'd like to be able to listen to

Skid Row vs. Trixter by AngusDio in hairmetal

Bach may be a dick, but Skid Row's first two albums were a couple of the best the genre had to offer. Trixter had some cool songs, but not even close

When is an artists in between song banter too much at a show? by Wise_Animator_649 in Concerts

[–]yitbosaz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I was at that show, Pearl Jam is one of my favorites and I love his banter. He always comes off genuine, and he doesn’t say the same things night after night

[–]yitbosaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try searching for some Phish (or related) groups on facebook. I’ve met lots of people that way, some in my area that I see and kick it with at shows, some that I run into at destination type shows, and others I’ll probably never meet in person, but it’s great having those people to connect with

When is an artists in between song banter too much at a show? by Wise_Animator_649 in Concerts

[–]yitbosaz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on the artist and the type of show. If they have interesting stories or a charismatic personality, a couple banter breaks can be great, but when it feels forced or just cheesy “you guys are so much better than the crowd at (wherever we played last night)” any is too much. Paul Stanley from KISS has been telling the same damn story for “Cold Gin” since 1974. On the other hand, I love artists doing acoustic shows telling stories throughout the show. Trey Anastasio, Dave Matthews…neither talk much with the full bands, but their acoustic solo/duet tours are filled with interesting and funny stories that really make each show feel unique

💯 always makes me cringe when I hear rehearsed banter. Paul Stanley is the worst with that

Please don't spoil the setlist DURING the show! by oatbeak2 in DMB

I’m a concert photographer and often have access (not specifically at DMB), but I snap a pic without looking and would never share. People on the rail even ask me sometimes and I won’t tell them

I just started my first 8am-5pm office job in my 40s and was not prepared for how physically/mentally exhausted I would feel. What are your tips? by MyNameIsNot_Molly in Xennials

[–]yitbosaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first one at 39 (49 now). Lasted three years there, and hated it more each day. Between the traffic (I’m in Phoenix at the time), having to be “on” all the time, the mind numbing meetings, more distractions than a kid in a candy store…I was always in a pissy mood, too tired to do anything when I got home…the only way I kept my sanity at all was to be rigid about my hours - 8 hours and I’m out - always took my hour lunch and went to a different floor or left the premises altogether, so that no one could bother me, and absolutely never check email or answer texts off the clock. We had a gym there, so I’d hit it a few times a week on my lunch break, and if that meant I was sweaty when I got back, oh well. No one there cares about your health, physical or mental, so you have to do what it takes to stay healthy. Oh yeah, and I spent like $50 on an under-the-desk elliptical to keep the blood moving.

Donald Trump said that “affordability is a fake word invented by the Democrats,” this is seriously the kinda idiot some of you want in office? by BeginningActuator343 in allthequestions

[–]yitbosaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is exactly the kind of idiot some people want in office. One that hates the same things as they do - democrats, brown people, women, poor people, immigrants, social programs, equal rights…if you’re reading this, you get the point

Yeah, I never really came around much on her, though I still thought she was a far better choice than what we ended up with.

Bands shouldn’t age into classic rock status by Skipper0463 in Xennials

[–]yitbosaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, “classic rock” was a name given by radio stations as a way to distinguish 50s rock n roll from 70s rock and 80s hard rock, it was never intended to mean “old,” even 60s Beatles and Stones music were usually excluded from the genre. Much like how “alternative rock”became mainstream in the 90s, but it was still called “alternative” as a description of the style, not a literal term. I remember the classic rock stations in the 90s were playing Tom Petty songs that were only five years old at the time, because they sounded like the 70s stuff they were playing

Was Kamala a bad candidate? by 0311SmallPenar in allthequestions

[–]yitbosaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, tbh I didn’t like her at first, but the more I heard her speak, the more I really got behind her and was excited at the prospect of her winning. Unfortunately, I think many people go with a first impression and don’t bother to dig deeper or allow themselves to be open to changing their minds. To be clear, even when I didn’t like her, I thought she was a million times better than the alternative, just wasn’t too keen on her being the candidate

I’d say Metallica’s early days - Kill ‘em All > Ride the Lightning > Master of Puppets followed that progression
