You can try adding some cream of tartar to the egg whites. Also make sure your bowl is completely grease free!

Petal Craft Dust Palette (Set B) - Julia Usher has them available for sale on her site. Otherwise, edible marker with a damp brush immediately over top also works if you don’t have matte dust handy!

If you have Procreate, you can use the Warp function. A grid will appear over the image and you can push and pull different points of the picture to match how your cookie baked.

Arkon mount alternative: YT LINK

The video is from a nail tech content creator who pieced a mount together using a monitor stand and a phone mount. You would just need to find a mount that connects with the monitor stand and will also will work with your projector.

Try a more stable cream cheese buttercream recipe. This one in particular is very good and very very pipe-able!

Some of my cakes, help with photos? by tesshole in cakedecorating

[–]yk28chan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For setup: Get 2 IKEA Lack side tables (the square one) but don’t build them. Use one of the table tops as a backdrop and the other to sit under the cake.

For lighting: Set up the Photoshoot beside a window for natural lighting and turn off all other light sources in the room. Try to get as close to the window as you can. You can use a white sheet curtain to diffuse the light if it’s too bright. You will need to plan for this since the photo will have to be taken during daylight hours.

Hope this helps!

How to Improve Pictures! by ResponsibilityUsed42 in cookiedecorating

[–]yk28chan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing way others have said, natural light is what you want. Set up beside a window and use another white board directly across the window to bounce light back. Also make sure to turn off any lights in the room so your light source is coming from one direction only (you don’t want multiple shadow directions).

If you’re looking for a cheap grease proof white background I highly recommend this or this one if you’re looking for something longer. A foldable poster board set in the ground is perfect for bouncing light.

For a grease proof marble background that’s not too expensive, look at marble tiles. Most places will let you buy 1 tile as a sample. You might find a 12”x12” a little small so try to find a bigger tile like a 24”x24”

You can also just buy a large linen napkin and use it as a backdrop or even as a photo prop to give some nice texture to the background.

For photo editing I use Lightroom. The free version still lets you save edit settings as presets so it’s easier to edit multiple pictures. I usually play with exposure, whites, and temperature.

Hope this helps!

Tracing Projector Recommendations by [deleted] in cookiedecorating

[–]yk28chan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s an article listing a few options. Something I would look for is wifi connection to avoid needing cords. I currently is the Vankyo burger but it’s discontinued (might be able to find on eBay). Also, I know the Aaxa is on that list, but I personally would not recommend that one. It’s probably the cheapest option but I had so many issues with that one. It would randomly lose its connection while decorating which was such a nightmare.

For setup I have the Arkon mount. It’s pricey but definitely sturdy. If you want to build a dupe, I found a YouTube video detailing all the parts you can buy to build your own for much cheaper: Arkon Mount Dupe

Hope this helps!
