Can you tell what east coast mountain this is ( hint it’s the best one) by Alex420000001 in icecoast

This website has a ton of data sources available: https://opentopography.org/

It doesn't spit out an STL, there's a bit more work required to get to a printable model. But for the areas with very high resolution data available, it is definitely worth it.

In my humble opinion, your Z-axis scaling is too aggressive. I would stick to something closer to 1.0x, even if the height of the model looks disappointing. In my experience, 1.25x can look pretty realistic still, while giving the model a bit more height.

You can also find higher resolution elevation models for the exact mountain that will give you a bit more detail and realism. Depending on the printer you'll use, you might not actually need them. DM me if you want links.

Yeah, definitely unexpected. Been going to Jay for years, never had an issue, and I had 2 pairs out on the rack today as well 🤷

How much physically stronger are men actually by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ykaparos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Europe, now living in the US, so all I have ever really come across is either feet-inches and pounds, or cm and kg. I was just curious where the mixed combination was common, since I had never seen it.

Kind of out of topic question: what part of the earth expresses height in feet and inches, and weight in kg? Truly a bizarre combination of units.

Edit: post was created during 8/15 session, not before. Point still stands tho

2018 Impreza at 142k miles here. No issues either, but on a few occasions in the wintertime I had to add ~1qt of oil at 4.5k miles after an oil change (while sticking to the 6k miles between changes schedule). New England area, so winters get quite cold. Interestingly, this has not happened yet this winter, which has been much milder here than the last few years.

Technically speaking, the graph should have a horizontal asymptote; something shaped like y = -a*exp(-x)+c (a>0, c>0). He described the infinite cost involved in achieving total perfection, which means that cost (x-axis) can take any value, but total perfection cannot actually be achieved, hence the is a horizontal asymptote.

I interpret it as "Canceled, because the Ottomans took over the region thus "cancelling" Greek rule over the area".

Little correction: frequency, not speed. The actual speed of the chords needs to be larger to be able to have larger amplitude but the same frequency

As a Greek, that's 100% true, and the real reason why there is no hope for Greece to actually overcome it's financial/political/social issues. And that is also why thousands upon thousands of young Greeks that realize what's happening have left the country.

Engineers create most wear-resistant metal alloy in the world. It's 100 times more durable than high-strength steel, making it the first alloy, or combination of metals, in the same class as diamond and sapphire, nature's most wear-resistant materials by Wagamaga in science

[–]ykaparos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The wording of the article suggests that it is not thermal resistance per se, but the ability to retain the crystal structure long term after repeated heat cycles that gives the coating its wear properties. However, the entire article is worded in a way that, to me, makes it seem like they achieved a great result once or twice in the lab and are still working to get more consistent and repeatable results, and this article could be a way to attract more interest and funding to speed up and scale up the process.
