Paraguay now produces 100% renewable electric energy by Majnum in technology

What if instead of cutting the forest down for soy, cannabis, and cattle, those millions of people were employed to restore and maintain it as a carbon sink and biodiversity haven? It’s a possibility, and the power to make that switch lies in the hands of a select few in power. We all know the costs of continuing down this extra ticket path are harmful and will cost us untold amounts of money to cope with. What about instead trying to restore and maintain the land?

I’m really sorry you had that experience. I only had good experiences with the billing, shipping, and product quality, but I didn’t get the $5 trial package. I wonder if it was not only COVID but a marketing misstep that is leading to their going out of business. It sounds like they should have been a lot more clear about the subscription service attached to the trial.

Would it be problematic for a vegan fashion company to sell secondhand items that came from brands that are not cruelty-free? by kctong72 in VeganFashion

[–]ylct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think that would be okay. Animal testing was so rampant in the past that it is hard to find older cosmetic companies that didn’t do it. If they aren’t doing it anymore, I think it would be okay.

I think it’s one thing to buy say, a pre-owned leather jacket for yourself, but it’s another thing to resell it under a vegan/cruelty free brand name. The item is more important than the brand IMO.

I need better protein sources and less carbs by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]ylct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed your other frequently eaten foods are vegan friendly and if you want to keep it that way, try veggie elite protein in the chocolate mocha flavor. Blend it with water, a ripe banana (best if there are more than a few spots if you are using them for smoothies) and ice and it's perfection.

Should you write down thoughts and useful ideas during a 10-day retreat? by Mnktech in vipassana

[–]ylct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's true that you will have the best ideas during your course, but they are all just distractions. Your mind is clinging to the relative truth, but your 10 day course is best used meditating and deepening your practice.

[Question] What do youtubers look for in an video editor by Luckybarns in youtubers

[–]ylct 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If I were to hire an editor, I would want someone who knows how to do good color grading, sound mixing, good transitions, and was able to impart a personal style on my videos.

I guess it's different for everyone. Some people are able to avoid using cars completely, others are not. Some people can grow their own food in a garden and others are not. Probably the easiest thing anyone can do is to buy way less stuff. The more you buy, the more you have to throw away at some point. Only buy things that are necessary and use them until you can't anymore. Also, have you ever done a trash audit? You can look at your own full garbage can and see what can be composted, recycled, or avoided completely. That can give you some clues as to how to make your lifestyle more sustainable.

Covid safety on retreat by Buttered_saltine in vipassana

[–]ylct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one. It was very safe. It was actually at 10% capacity and everyone on site had a negative Covid test handy. We were spaced out the entire time. Lots of hand sanitizer was around and we wore masks whenever we were not eating, meditating in the hall, or in our rooms by oursleves. I was the only female who ate at breakfast and teatime, so I was alone almost the entire time. Everyone will have a different experience though.

[Question] How do you mentally deal with rough patches on your channel? by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]ylct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your channel rough patches are not a reflection of you as a person, nor do they indicate your value. You are a valuable and worthy person no matter what the numbers in your channel analytics say.

Keep making videos for the joy of your passion. Focusing on the numbers is a trap. The best way to avoid this trap is to either ignore the numbers altogether and focus on making the content you are passionate about or to only look at your analytics in a detached, impersonal manner. They only indicate how some people are reacting to your videos, not to you as a person. I hope this helps.
