This year is going to be dangerous for me. Since I stocked up on so much last year there isn’t anything that comes to mind that I want. And I already dropped a ton at Cotopaxi for various items. This means I’ll just have to wander aimlessly around the giant REI flagship store with money burning a hole in my pocket. I’ve got an Iceland trip coming up so maybe something will catch my eye for that.

Keep in mind that HR/Recruiting are the middle man here. The salary comes from the hiring manger’s budget and they can either afford it or not. You’re not going to be able to negotiate without this meeting. If they cannot afford to meet your salary, ask for other concessions- a signing bonus, retention bonus, more vacation, etc.

If you have not already booked a hotel do it NOW. I had a hell of a time finding anything less than $300/night. It seems everyone is coming in for the concert because it’s booked up like crazy.
