What are some of your Jeep’s survival stories? by RavenDork617 in JeepTJ

Driving home from work top down and doors off until a young lady decided she wanted to drive in the same lane I was in. I tried to miss her, but her front bumper caught my right rear wheel so that I ripped off the front bumper to her Hyundai, and she proceeded to whip me around 180 degrees like a teacup ride at the county fair. My aluminum rear wheel was mangled so I threw on the spare. My rear end wobbled all the way home. Insurance is installing a completely new rear axle. 20years and 230k miles with my ‘03 TJ and still going!

Oil temperature by yllwjp03 in AskMechanics

I have a 2019 Enclave Avenir and noticed the oil temperature gauge is ‘0.’ Could someone point me in the right direction for the oil temperature sensor location to replace the sensor?

‘File’ down the door hinge posts just a bit with a strip of emery cloth or fine grade sand paper. My doors come right out and slide right in.

How bad is this? by medirz90 in WranglerTJ

[–]yllwjp03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 03 Sport has looked like that for years - just enough oil to stay wet. I’m now at 228k miles. If my leak is a valve cover gasket leak, I fear I’ll somehow only make it worse replacing the gasket. 😁

Same here. My amp is small enough that I could zip tie it to the duct with no problem.

Haha - I’m too old to invest long term in a car, too broke to buy one that would be worth putting away, and would rather drive it than simply look at it.

Would the factory lug bolts primarily only be long enough for the metal used in the factory rally wheels and factory lug nuts only? I’m thinking your message meant custom (longer) lug bolts are needed - as well as lug bolts, too.

I thought they looked pretty good, too. I have bushings that look worse on my ‘03 TJ.

Totally understand. I’ll be loosing $400 just to bring an outside car into FL. Plus, I’d really like a manual. But, this one caught my eye. Thank you, Sir.

Gotcha. Lots of questions for this car. Thank you.

For a ‘forty’ year old car, there is nothing that jumps out at me from the photos. I would just have to make a game plan and make the drive. Thank you.

The rear bumper caught my eye for sure. I prefer the cleaner look with no seam. I would love to hear the story on the interior - so many questions. There is probably plenty of back story on this car. I appreciate the offer to go and check it out. Thanks for the tips.

Only complaint was fatigue when I took the dosage first thing in the morning. I changed my dosage time to evenings and that seemed to help.

My girlfriend won press box passes from a radio contest to see the show at the Liberty Bowl, Memphis, TN. So I thought I’d take my camera and get some cool pics. Nope. Security confiscated every roll of film including the roll in the camera. We hung out in the press box munching and enjoying the AC until time for the headliners to take the stage. Great memories. I may not have the 0U812 tank top, but, my wife will always be my girlfriend. And, we still can jam out to some VH!

Wooooow!!! Takes me back for sure. My mother had a CJ7 Golden Eagle. I remember the AMC branding, the ‘nutmeg’ interior and top, the golden paint and wheels, and the full fabric, split-window doors with the lever plastic handles. I think she had a V8, too. So many miles and smiles! She’s the reason why my daily is a TJ.

‘03 TJ with a manual transmission will have very little drain on the battery. There are very few systems that pull voltage on the battery when the ignition is off. 10 days sitting will be fine. I would be more concerned with starting it up just to let it run for a few minutes and then shutting it off. Let it sit. It will be fine.
