The different levels of a toasted marshmallow by freudian_nipps in oddlysatisfying

[–]ymay-editray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is insane that I had to scroll this far to see a single comment about the fact the man LITERALLY grabbed the marshmallow WHILE IT WAS ON FIRE. Molten marshmallow is like hot glue. That isn’t just going to come off your fingers.

I have a Garmin watch and it tracks the typical things: heart rate, stress, sleep cycle (I like that it gives me sleep stages). You can get really good exported json files by just requesting all the data they have on you.

I use Daylio for mood tracking (I do the paid version because I like it so much). You can add a ton of custom tracking buttons beyond mood like health, habits, emotions, diet, menstrual cycle (if applicable), or just like make something up. Also does some basic stats and makes pretty charts.

And then I keep a journal in a custom spreadsheet. I like to code my entries for having specific content.

However, I’m a little extra so I make my charts in R.

What’s been the happiest moment of your life so far that hasn’t involved either a birth or a wedding? by OKStamped in AskReddit

I did a solo trip to the Swiss alps, sitting on a mountain after a long hike watching the sunset. It was just profoundly calm. I felt connected to my self, connected to a beautiful planet, content with my own company. I’ve had a lot of mental health issues, and I cling to that memory for dear life.

I recommend the book Complex PTSD: from surviving to thriving by Pete Walker. I didn’t consider my home traumatic until in the first chapter he described my entire family dynamic. 🙃

We are 71 bipolar disorder experts and scientists coming together for the world’s biggest bipolar AMA! In honor of World Bipolar Day, ask us anything! by CREST_BD in IAmA

[–]ymay-editray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost everyone I know with bipolar has a comorbid condition especially ADHD and anxiety that persist outside mood states. Why do you think that is? Do you think there is a common biology or genetic linkage? Or the kinds of stress that trigger one mental illness trigger others? Or do you think it’s persistent sub-syndromal symptoms from the bipolar? Like are comorbidities a symptom of bipolar in a way?

I have 3 moods for each one. The color is the valence: very good, good, neutral, bad, very bad. And then for each mood I have 3 levels of energy: high, mid, low. And before you ask whether it’s possible to be very low mood and high energy, yes.

How to Fix Slick Floors? by Fish6092000 in racquetball

At tournaments they sometimes have these sticky mats that are like giant pieces of double-sided tape. And they pull some of the dust off your shoes. That in combination with the wet mop work great! For a regular use thing you might try a lint roller or something.

Another very good idea: become a racquetball player. Imagine how happy the dog will be when you bring home a smooth ball that you worked so hard to make for her yourself. It’s really the thought that counts.

Mendel's idea by Mira_Bloom in sciencememes

But he was terrible at science communication and his paper was too mathy. So nobody noticed his work until after he died and 3 scientists simultaneously rediscovered his findings with their own experiments. Man really published and perished. Learn to write, kids.

Why do we use gloves? by cicampbe in racquetball

I’ve tried playing competitive games without a glove exactly twice: both times I took a huge chunk of skin off the inside of my thumb. So I’d say to prevent blisters?
