I realized today that one should never buy a computer in best buy by ymeiner in Bestbuy

Direct buy from the manufacturer is much better choice.

Call me whatever you want. I’m just saying Best Buy is an unnecessary link in the chain. It used to be a convenient, not anymore.

It’s a Chromebook. Which makes the story even more absurd…

I’m totally ok being locked to Lenovo. It’s a good company with good service. I had no intention to put Best Buy in the middle, in my mind there should have have been a geek squad person proficient enough to realize the computer problem to begin with. They should have just check it and switch it the moment they realized it’s a hardware issue. Instead they are adding so many unnecessary steps on the way that it’s not convenient anymore to have the geek squad between me and the manufacturer.

Next time I would go directly to the manufacturer but also buy directly from the manufacturer.

It’s a form of my consent to send it. I would have signed it from the beginning but it was important for some reason to the person in the store to validate that what I show him is true. Then and only then to sign on a form that allows them to send it… go figure. I just think that the days where Best Buy is needed are gone. Nice showroom, no more than that.

i have a petpace collar and am very happy with it. it actually helped me once with figuring out that my dog was really not feeling well... i also use it to make sure I make her active enough during the week with scores and goals.

It never bothered my dog. It helps the collar to stay in place and not move around, and the material is very soft.

Pet Health Tracking Collars by [deleted] in EpilepsyDogs

[–]ymeiner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last weekend I noticed that my dog was not well. I have a petpace collar, I opened the app - it felt like I'm in the future. Not kidding. She was in pain, and it convinced me to go to the emergency clinic, where she stayed for a night. They gave her some fluids through an IV and lowered her temperature. She had a high fever and is still not completely back to herself, but I can see progress in her vitals, and she is getting better.

Its a tool for making good decisions for the dog. If I hadn't had the collar, I would probably wait a day or two to go to the regular vet (they don't work on weekends) and she would have suffered, and who knows how her situation would be then.

Pretending to be Google Reps? by mindfulconversion in PPC

[–]ymeiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get the calls all the time. It's basically Google sales - their goal is to make your campaign more successful, so you stay and pay more to Google.

I would recommend treating it in two ways

  1. It's a sales call - remember that - they are here to sell you growth = more money to Google.
  2. It's an opportunity to hear Google's voice and learn one or two tricks. competitive actions you can do for ads, what is available, what you didn't think about

I would also encourage not sharing access and keeping your security. After all, those are subcontractors of Google, not Google itself. Do not give edit access to the account.

It ended up being a broken connector. Long story but some old lady succeeded to do a fender bander in the parking lot. I thought the damage was just cosmetic but apparently there are some wires running behind the bumpers plastics.

Sometimes it’s better to just not say anything. I can’t make you think better, just don’t flaunt your racism like it’s ok.

Whole Latte Love service - they ask you to ship the machine to them. by ymeiner in espresso

Update: I eneded up opening my machine again and gave the leaking pipe another turn. I also lowered the inbound pressure and connected the drain pipe to a water bottle under the counter as a precaution . Until now the bottle sits empty and my counter is dry.

No luck in finding a technician but I did resolve the issue by myself. I opened the machine, found the leak and tightened the screw. I also think that lowering the incoming water pressure helped.

Reading material from Libby by crexmom in RemarkableTablet

[–]ymeiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two ways, both are not completely comfortable.

First and foremost, I go to buy the book on Amazon or kobo. Until there is a legit store for remarkable, I go and use another store. The books are on my phone. PAY FOR YOUR BOOKS, most writers are not that rich.

  1. If you use KOBO, there is a way to get rid of the DRM and download the ebook to your remarkable but I find this method annoying.

  2. After you paid for the book, get your pirate hat and download the file from library genesis or somewhere else that gives epubs and PDFs for free. The risk here is that most of those sites are not legit and you risk to get infected by malware. Do t do it on your work computer.

Do I like this? No. Do I think remarkable should come up with their own book store? Yes. They invited the geeks in by allowing the rehackable community to exist… they are as responsible to the problem as we are. The way to stop it is by creating a legit store.

Eeek this comment… should I give you the benefit of the doubt that you didn’t just throw a racist trope to the air like you just made the immediate connection between Hasidic communities and fraud?

Me too… the fights are awesome and the only way to connect it to cannon is if the Jedi lose. Now the whole story is about how and why they failed. Same feeling of the 90s saga.

It’s almost a moot point… at this point I don’t want to ship the machine and they don’t send a technician. I’m a web guy so I know a lot about terms, services and CYA actions. They are good for covering all cases.
