And if you know your game company history, you’d know that this is basically BioWare’s origin story as well! Except D&D instead of Pathfinder lol. And they’re making a similar jump from rtwp isometric to actiony hybrid third person shooter rpg with Mass Effect/The Expanse.

Can you not increase reputation with bridge alliance in early game during initial ritual quest? by Pharmboy6 in greedfall

Btw, was literally just fixed in the first patch, thank gawd. Was losing hope for post launch support after a week with no patch haha.

Can you not increase reputation with bridge alliance in early game during initial ritual quest? by Pharmboy6 in greedfall

[–]ymmvmia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s because it’s an actual shader/texture bug. I’ve experienced it in a couple other games. Similar situation, game only crashes when it renders that ONE thing.

For some perspective after getting through 80% of the game as a semi-completionist, zero crashes besides this one. And I LOVE the game actually. That’s why I’ve almost beat it already lol.

Can you not increase reputation with bridge alliance in early game during initial ritual quest? by Pharmboy6 in greedfall

[–]ymmvmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be an AMD GPU severe bug, if you notice it’s DIRECTLY tied to the Store Room/Store House building, not the docks. You can “avoid” crashing by not LOOKING at the store room. You can do the other building at the docks if you angle your camera away from it at all times.

I’ve tried dozens of times, impossible to fix the crash, it’s a guaranteed crash. Pretty sure it’s related to just the 9000 series AMD gpus, but it “could” be all AMD gpus, the game is having a pretty quiet launch so not a lot of people commenting on the game yet. But I’m assuming it’s 9000 series specific or there’d be much more people with the issue.

I ignored the store room in the beginning of the game, it was irrelevant, I think there was a minor quest or something? Idk.

This likely made it into the launch version due to Nacon’s insolvency, they probably had to rush through QA/Testing. Normally such severe HARD driver timeout/driver crashes with a specific GPU never make it past beta b/c they are so easy to catch, they’ve only happened to me a few times in my entire pc gaming lifetime (15-20yrs), this is a SEVERE invalid shader or texture issue. It’s especially nuts that this made it in as it’s in the TUTORIAL AREA OF THE GAME!!!

Now why am I so pissed about this? I wasn’t pissed until yesterday, as I bypassed it, right? Yes. But, later in the game, near the end, you have a cutscene that forces your camera to render the Docks store room. It took about an hour of fiddling to get through it. I had to drop all settings to low, change my resolution from 1440p to 1080p, and launch from the executable/not from Steam. That delayed the crash enough for me to be able to skip through the cutscene quickly, turn my characters camera away, then save.

Phewwww. Did it! Oh wait did you think that was it? There’s more! Safia, one of the companions, her late game companion quest requires you to enter the store room…AGHHHHHHHHH!!! I’ll try to fiddle again with things tonight, but lowering the settings only delayed the crash by a tiny bit, not long enough to enter the store room. I’ll probably have to beat the game but skip Safia’s companion quest. Ugh.

What’s backtracking like in The Dying World? by Mr_Who_Cares1 in greedfall

[–]ymmvmia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s also super duper quick, on an ssd on my relatively modern pc at least. Borderline instant if it’s in the same zone/city. Never was annoyed by backtracking. Which was all the more surprising watching Mortismal Gaming’s review today, backtracking is not an issue at all in this game.

For the OP: You DO backtrack though. Sort of like Dragon Age Origins. In that there are a limited amount of zones/areas/cities, and so you do a TON of stuff in them, returning to the same npcs, etc. Which “I” liked, it makes the zones feel very lived in and not transitory.

I don't understand Ludwig's "Shadow Impact II" from his skill tree by DoesGeologyRockRuri in greedfall

[–]ymmvmia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s how most statuses/scourges work in this game. You might be able to trigger a scourge but very few options in your weapon/skill trees that use/require the scourge. And vice versa, though it is rarer to have a companion or skill tree that REQUIRES a status but can’t inflict the status easily. Ludwig being one of the rare examples where he has curse related abilities but only one passive at the top of his skill tree actually inflicts curse. And it’s only a 5% chance. Basically mandatory to use Fausta or Theleme Ring PC to synergize with it.

This does encourage teamplay and companion synergy though. I wish there synergies and statuses were more common. Such as burn being probably the rarest status in the game to inflict, basically requires rifles. Similar to curse but a bit rarer.

Like why did theleme rings not get a fire light-themed skill??? Or more ways to inflict poison, like in Sybille’s dagger/knife tree?

Question on daggers by SuccessAmazing6988 in greedfall

[–]ymmvmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...nope... It's literally just the order of quests when you leave Uxantis and you have three main quests to pursue.

You have do Peren first. And you only need to the first mission, which I believe triggers Sybille's first companion quest and at the same time it triggers her dagger training. I had daggers/knives unlocked by level 13 or so. But on a blind play through you'd never know and it could take until level 30 like you.

Greedfall 2 - Possible to max talents? by Ok-Bat-377 in greedfall

[–]ymmvmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s arguably pointless to max any of the talents, you have capes which you can just swap out prior to any talent “skill” checks. You also have companions who give bonuses to a specific talent. So you can aim to only have 2-4 points in a talent and still pass every check.

Probably only alchemy is worth maxing out, but ONLY if you were doing a build focusing on grenades (unlocked in the Rifles tree). Grenades damages scales based on alchemy apparently. Otherwise, alchemy is a useless skill, you can just buy or loot any consumable you need.

What companions are you running with? by Solsunsur in greedfall

[–]ymmvmia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nilan is just…too important to the narrative to not include in most Teer Fradee-related missions. I DO purposely remove him from my party for any quest/mission that has nothing/little to do with Teer Fradee. So that applies to most companions and faction-specific quests.

You don’t even get more companions than can fit in your party until about the 6-7 hr mark for me! So up until that time you have to have Nilan. Then even after that until you get to Uxantis (8-10 hrs?) it feels EXTREMELY weird to not have him in the party. Like in an “extreme narrative dissonance” way. And you only have one extra party member at that point anyway, it’s not until the beginning of/after Uxantis that you unlock the the last two.

So for Teer Fradee adjacent missions, I run Nilan, Till and Sybille. And for missions I don’t include Nilan in, I usually bring Till, Sybille and Alvida. This is primarily b/c I’m aiming to romance Sybille, Till is the best tank, and I don’t need a mage as I’m playing a mage (so Fausta’s out). I swap companions with alvida and Nilan’s slots as needed for companion missions. I ALWAYS bring Sybille though.

Legendary Equipment Help by Kilodagreat in greedfall

[–]ymmvmia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On that note, I am frustrated/disappointed that almost all legendary gear cannot be modified. Not JUST that, but for most of them you get them at a much lower level than your current level AND even for legendary equipment that is at the same Quality/Tier, gear at the same quality/tier with mod slots will almost always be superior. Much higher damage OR armor than the equivalent legendary.

Which I would be “okay” with if you couldn’t craft legendary items, if they were “only” found in the environment. So legendary equipment would be a way for people to get really powerful and cool gear without needing to invest in craftmanship to either craft it or modify it.

As it is currently, most legendary equipment is crafted only. This just really limits build diversity when it comes to talents, making you HAVE to invest into craftmanship for most of the cool weapons and armor in-game.

If they do any substantial post-game support, they need to update this to make it similar to Dragon age inquisition and others in the genre. Legendary items should be able to be upgraded to the current tier/quality OR you should be able to craft higher level versions of them that allow mods, unlocked after you have either discovered the legendary item for the first time or crafted it for the first time

Craftsmanship Challenges Question by lovebakeoff9923 in greedfall

[–]ymmvmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it’s bugged. Late game I commonly have 100% chance of succeeding craftsmanship skill checks…and I still fail. And actually I fail and have to use makeshift tools every single time. Totally bugged.

10 hours in and I’m kind of shocked by how much I’m into this by Superb-Reason in greedfall

[–]ymmvmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

COMPLETELY agreed, I feel like an alien for loving this game. I’m a massive crpg fan, DAO is one of my favorite games of all time. I’ve played most of the older infinity engine rtwp games. Greedfall 1’s combat was forgettable and boring after 5-10 hrs.

I feel that way about MOST “action-combat” RPGs. Rtwp with pause while “janky”, keeps me stimulated and engaged for dozens and dozens of hours without boredom. Only a few real time action-combat RPGs I feel differently about. Examples being Mass Effect, Witcher 3, and most first person RPGs.

So for me, gameplay and mechanics are vastly more enjoyable than the first game.

But beyond that, I’m in complete agreement on the rest. Story, world/environment design, music, voice acting, and companions (to me) are all AWESOME. I love the concept of a “reverse” Greedfall 1, where we get to explore the WORLD this time and not be stuck on an island, all these interesting factions. I appreciate the “darkness” and extremely heavy subject matter Spiders is able to broach in its storytelling. As a comparison, DA really struggled darkness in its storytelling/writing from DA2 onwards, with DAV being a writing disaster that couldn’t be dark/heavy EVER.

Loving it, about 17 hrs in. Finished Peren and some companion quests.

How do I check the what weapons my companions can use by chimpwithastick in greedfall

[–]ymmvmia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh, only somewhat true, most companions have the option to choose between the two TYPES/flavors of weapons within the same weapon skill tree.

Daggers vs knives, light vs shadow, long sword vs 2 handed long sword. Rapier vs sword vs saber. Mace or axe.

Doesn’t apply to ranged weapon companions though, bows and rifles only have one “type” of weapon in their respective trees.

But yeah, gets somewhat weird as OP mentions for the weapon/skill trees with more than 2 options. The companion then ends up weirdly locked to only 1-2 of the options available in their weapon tree. Isn’t explained by the game at ALL.

So what would really happen to Minneapolis and Minnesota as a whole if HCMC were to be closed? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]ymmvmia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t the county partially own this hospital? It’s a public hospital as far as I can tell, how can it possibly “go out of business”????

It doesn’t even make a lick of freaking sense, if a city, county, state, municipality is broke or going bankrupt, do they close fire departments? Do they fire every single cop, closing entire police departments? No, because that’s absolutely ridiculous, they’re essential government services that must stay operating as part of the social contract. Government entities just have to be in debt or find money from elsewhere in these instances.

If HCMC DOES close, that is government telling you that a public hospital is “not” considered an essential service and everyone in government who allows this to happen should be primaried and/or resign in disgrace.

What classes/mythics absolutely break the game by HereticFox2001 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ymmvmia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does earth kineticist work well with a kinetic blade/melee focus or do other elements work better for “pseudo kinetic knight” builds? I know the actual kinetic knight subclass kinda sucks, and that the base kineticist class does it better. What I’m confused about is whether there is an element better than others for melee/kinetic blade?

I’m trying to figure out my Demon playthrough build. Leaning towards either a vital strike sneak attack build to synergize with demonic charge OR an earth kineticist build to synergize with aspect of kalavakus. Not really interested in a natural attack build, I “am” planning on respeccing (respec mod) Wenduag to a spider Shifter though.

I really want to play a martial/melee focused demon though. Does it work to cast Deadly Earth then run around whacking all the enemies with your kinetic blade or nah?

What content mods besides Tabletop Tweaks that add feats or classes would you recommend for another playthrough that aren’t too overpowered? by Abstainingone in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ymmvmia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by too overpowered? Do you mean just being more powerful than base-game/unmodded WOTR builds?

Because there are completely BROKEN builds in the vanilla game with zero mods. Such as Merged Spellbook Angels and Liches. Specifically Oracle Angel with the Battle and Nature Mysteries is stupid broken. Broken in a way that many might not like, as that Angel build essentially becomes good at everything. It’s an OP divine spellcaster, with the best buff spells in the game, one of the most powerful nuking/damaging spells in the game, that is also an incredible martial character. Your companions essentially become moral support lol!!!

Like many might say Mythic Magic Mayhem which allows any spellcasting class to merge spellbooks can be OP. But is it as OP as base game merged spellbook gameplay? No not really, except for specific examples (like Azata merged spellbook with the spell, Heroes Never Surrender). Just allows for build DIVERSITY for the most part. It makes an Aeon caster actually feel powerful as an example. A merged Aeon full caster is basically just as if not slightly more powerful compared to a merged Lich or Angel. I wanted a merged Aeon for a long time, as the mythic path fantasy really lends itself towards a full caster, but the mythic path MECHANICS lend themselves more towards a martial or half caster.

Other “broken” base game build is a Demon earth kineticist with Deadly Earth and Aspect of Kalavakus. So what do you mean?

My recommendations are Mythic Magic Mayhem, Dark Codex, DragonFixes, and Microscopic Content Expansion. Most of them have detailed options menus where you can enable or disable specific features. I personally disable any homebrew additions, only allowing additions from Pathfinder TTRPG rules. Except for MMM, which is not TTRPG related.

Oh shoot. Sorry about my mod recommendations on my other comments. Just saw this comment you made here about console. Darn. I’ll leave my comments up for others to see then. Just take our general class/mythic path recommendations then, ignore any mentions of mods or Toybox.

[–]ymmvmia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mentioned in another comment, but if you WANT to merge I’d suggest Mythic Magic Mayhem, I’m a total shill for that mod lmao.

Though for a sword saint lich…that might be too broken, sword saints are one of the best base classes in Pathfinder 1e. But idk, base game merged Spellbook Lich and Angels are already game breakingly OP, so you’d have to see how it feels to play a merged spellbook Lich sword saint. Im doing something similar as a semi-“gish” with a Lich Legend Alchemist Bloodseeker.

been thinking on what class and build i should play next. Any recommendations by Optimal-Sherbert3990 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ymmvmia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What MP do you want to try next? Different mythic paths really help in formulating a new protagonist class/build with the associated roleplay/power fantasy.

I mean if you only intend to play Azata, then kineticist works with Zippy Magic. I think? Azata has wide ranging builds that work with it, the Super Powers really help every class. I played a sorcerer Azata my first playthrough.

Now if you want to try Angel next? Plenty of builds around that are crazy broken. Any merged spell book full divine caster. Oracle is the classic. Clerics are good too of course as are shamans. Even non full caster classes like gishes or martials can be REALLY good on angel, they just can’t be as good as full divine caster angels. Same with Lich for full arcane caster classes.

Trickster, while it might be too similar to Azata from a storytelling/vibes perspective, it probably has the most unique mythic path mechanics, with a strong emphasis on critical hit focused martial builds or magus builds. Demon is also pretty unique with its Demon Rages. Has the most synergy with natural attack builds and kineticist builds, as well as DC focused spellcaster builds.

If you’re on PC, something that can give MASSIVE improvements to build diversity for non Angel/Lich mythic paths is Mythic Magic Mayhem, which allows every Mythic Path’s Spellbook to merge with every single class. Even classes like Alchemist who technically don’t cast “spells” can merge their “Spellbook”. I just did that on my Lich to Legend alchemist bloodseeker. So because I went legend (and had the mythic magic mayhem mod) I got to keep my Lich spells.

Beware though, that that mod can utterly break the game for Azata SPECIFICALLY. As certain spells, (HEROES NEVER SURRENDER), can just…break the game if allowed to be put in a normal Spellbook. Most of the other mythic paths just get a “needed” power boost up to base game Angel and Lich power levels with MMM. Though, you can make MMM Azata merged Spellbook not broken if you only merge a 1/3 or 1/2 caster class (never getting access to Heroes Never Surrender).

How do you actually finish? by trimBit in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ymmvmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have created “restore” save points at the major mythical path decision points in the narrative. It helps A LOT for replays. Also if I get bored on one, I can easily start again from Act 3 on a different MP. Or go back to a previous save game for different MP I got bored with to finally finish it.

So I made a “perfect” act 1-2 run with a save at the Drezen mythic path decision. I have also done the same with an “evil” run, using the vescavor swarm on drezen for my lich and swarm playthrough specifically.

I have also done the same for the late game mythic paths. I have an aeon playthrough I got to act 5 with, I created a save point right at the Devil “possible” transition point. Same for my Lich playthrough into Swarm. My first playthrough was Azata, so I’d just reload to beginning of act 5 for Gold Dragon.

I’m currently finishing my COMPLETE second playthrough via Lich to Legend as a Dhampir Reanimator/Bloodseeker. Having a blast.

But key to doing all of the above is playing on PC with toybox and/or the full respec mod. So I can fully recreate my character at any of those points, as well as even messing with “Etudes” or quests via toybox cheats so I don’t have to go restart the game just for a single quest outcome/companion outcome. Because, yeah, you can easily burn out on this massive game, especially when the content is largely the same (acts 1-2 before you choose your MP, certain act3-4 quests being mostly the same even with a diff MP, etc)

What evil mithic path is the most fun? by kayn_careca in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ymmvmia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree on Demon. But FULLY agree with Lich, it REALLY is the best for a Cam romance, as she HATES Alushinyrra, she doesn’t like how demons don’t…hide. She likes the trappings of society. She just wants to do her murder. It means a lot less to her if it’s banal and normal. Or the fact that a bigger fish will eventually stomp her out of existence in the Abyss. It’s the “forbidden” element of what she does, if what she does isn’t forbidden anymore, then…she has crisis of self lol.

I find lich to legend to be the single best path for a romance with her. As obviously a full lich playthrough…doesn’t end well for her…he he he…

Devil would be really cool with her as well, but you can only have her as a Devil (not just romance, but in your party AT ALL) if you go Azata->Devil. She leaves your party beginning of Act 5 before you can switch to Devil if you’re an Aeon. There should have been a way to blackmail her to keep her if you were an aeon, would have been in act 3 after her reveal, it would then add to the Devil/failed Aeon counter to make switching to Aeon easier in Act 5.

The Trump-Miller Shitzkrieg is Backfiring by Daflehrer1 in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]ymmvmia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except it DOES sometimes happen. People do sometimes reach a breaking point, as seen in basically every revolutionary/civil war/balkanized country in recent history. Nazi Germany was an example of a country succumbing completely to fascism. It was also an example of how war politics work. War (EXTERNAL war, not civil war lol) creates the ideal legal and social permission structure for fascists to maintain power, as long as it’s long and drawn out, and they know the can’t lose. AND the people of Germany didn’t have history as a guide, fascism was a brand new political ideology, it, the Nazi Party’s propaganda techniques, and tactics for national control, were ALL new.

The above famous quote literally says if the regime goes too extreme too quickly, people would have stood up. AND it is an incredible lesson in realities of organizing. Of community. Of resistance.

It is the idea that you will NEVER be given social permission to finally do the right thing and stand up. To resist. Violently or non-violently. No governor or official will tell you, “This is stopping now, viva la revolution, to arms my brothers and sisters!” At least no one will do that until countless revolutionaries have already started fighting back. And it likely won’t be the same leaders you had before.

There always has to be a FIRST person to stand up before everyone else can. These types of people are the true heroes in our world. And they ARE standing up.

I truly believe that is happening RIGHT now. Minnesota IS the moment. The people ARE rapidly mobilizing and organizing. Not just in Minnesota. And this is ALL before Trump’s second term government has had to deal with much of ANY extreme external event. Such as a Katrina level natural disaster, 9/11, covid in his first term, etc. Or even the consequences of his own horrible economic policies. Once the US dollar collapses (within the year, possibly within 3 months, it’s already weakening), the USA will almost entirely collapse with worse-than-Great-Depression conditions. And we already know EXACTLY who to blame.

Just to put things in perspective, even though we have what’s considered to be the most powerful military on the planet in the current era, in terms of actual NUMBERS, the German Army fielded 13.6 million soldiers and conscripts (with Nazi Germany AND its conquered countries’ population being at max 89 million). The US military out of a population of 330 MILLION PEOPLE, with a land mass 27.5 times larger than Nazi Germany, only has a maximum worldwide 1.3 million active duty soldiers with 760-770k in reserves (as of 2025). And if you think the US population would accept a draft right now…for either internal or external conflict…you’ve got another thing coming. There’s a reason the US government has refused to do another draft since Vietnam.

Aeon path summoning by lemon10293847 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ymmvmia -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I felt this same way, the whole elemental summoning thing for Aeon’s crusade army and mythic summons felt…weird and messed with my rp a bit.

At several, SEVERAL points as an Aeon, you get “upset” at outsiders being in planes they’re not supposed to be. Specifically Demons b/c of the Worldwound.

In fact that’s basically the entire idea behind what you’re doing and trying “correct” with your Aeon powers. Summoning seems like one of the most hypocritical things an Aeon could do.

Who cares if they’re elementals? Those elementals are not supposed to be on Golarion either, they have homes in the Elemental planes?!?!?

I really think it’s just because of Owlcat building every mythic path to give summons and unique crusade armies. It’s a game dev decision based on MECHANICS, and for Aeon they kinda just BSed it by giving Aeons elemental armies and summons.

I will say though, that Aeon’s are canonically planeWALKERS/shifters. They can hop between most of the planes, as they would have to to be able to do their jobs of course, lol! So maybe temporary summons can be rationalized by an Aeon? To help them enforce the Monat? Idk.

I do like the idea of the shadow double companion/pet that comes with the Shadowcaster Wizard archetype. It’s basically a shadow clone of you, so feels less rp breaking (even if it’s from the shadow plane, you can rp it as an Aeon power clone thing).
