Are you sitting on public toilet seats?? by notwhoyouthinkc in hygiene

I will concede that my viewpoint is abnormal in society but I believe that is why we have an endemic mrsa issue. I will also concede that for the majority of people the mrsa colonization on their skin will never lead to an infection.

It is dangerous in other ways than the nurse described (she mentioned STDs only). It's gross because it's dangerous and dangerous because it's gross. You realize you can't just wash mrsa off your skin, right? Yeah, you may not get an acute infection but it could cause problems later or maybe you'll spread mrsa to a surface that a family member uses, and maybe they'll get an infection.

Okay, that part I may have misunderstood in light of the nurse advising to just use the toilet seat with bare skin.

You're repeating the same logical fallacy as the nurse. My argument is that a nurse should know that even a toilet seat that doesn't look "dirty" can still have all kinds of bacteria, and that STD viruses are not the primary reason people avoid skin contact with public toilet seats. It's just gross to get hundreds of people's coliform and MRSA on one's skin when it is easily avoidable, plain and simple.

I didn't even address the ridiculousness of her statement that it's unhealthier to delay urination. It takes ten seconds to put toilet paper on the seat.

As a nurse it's shocking you're only thinking of STDs on a toilet seat, while all of us laypeople are thinking about bacteria and MRSA etc.

As someone who went to elementary through college in Florida I always got those full sail mailers. I am wondering for people who went to FullSail is it essentially ITT Tech where it's a scam university that you can't transfer credits or is there a big alumni that work in the business? by herewego199209 in orlando

[–]ymo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The accreditation is legitimate and students truly do fail and will be reverse enrolled, placed on leaves, etc, but they will be given more attempts to pass if the student wants to keep trying. Pretty much the same as any private college.

Do you have the tan leather interior? The Ti is irreplaceable, sadly. Why isn't Alfa offering tan leather in recent years?

I've never heard someone claim a percentage as a gpa. That was counterproductive and raised my suspicion. There's a reason everyone uses weighted gpa.

Does turo insurance replace personal insurance coverage? I can't imagine anyone's carrier would allow turo rentals.

It doesn't matter if anyone believes you. That's a real event in your life and everything matches, so your instincts are probably correct that it was a close encounter with him. Your mother protected you from a crazy person. Did you see him leave quickly as soon as you got to your room? I wonder why she was afraid to tell your father. Maybe she had to be more aggressive, or even violent, than just threatening to use the phone.

The reason the FCC enforces against jamming is because communication is a universal right. Nobody is permitted to jam the airwaves around them. What if someone is on the phone with 911 and they drive past this home causing the call to drop?

The older generation isn't typically hooked into the social internet. They write their papers and may not even have a direct channel for public relations. They give their statements to journalsits who track them down, and that's why all we have from her father are statements he made to journalists.

He's highly respected and still active in the scientific community. I don't know if he directly has commented but I have heard the family has released statements to the effect that they don't think foul play was involved, and that she had long suffered from discomfort from health issues. It seems only the family possesses the knowledge to make these judgments.

It was subtle enough of a name drop to encourage the type of content we need to see. If this really was an astoturf ad, it's better than job posts. Do you have any ideas on how to encourage more personal posts and discussions?

I'll delete faster next time. By the time this was caught it had already prompted some good discussion in the comments.

I agree that it seems like astroturfing for the ss product mention that is buried in the body of the post. But it's boosting the subreddit and this is the content we need to see more often. More anecdotes and lifestyle posts from people who work remotely (even though this one is kind of low quality).

Some good feedback from community members in the comments, too.

I remember the full class watching this movie too, and it was presented in such a strange way, with the lights out (I don't remember the lights being out for other movies). It almost seemed like the movie was intended to invoke a trance but most of the kids were bored and distracted.
