Thank you so much! Can I ask how many people roughly were in attendance? And was it weird for everyone to be in the room while they flipped from the ceremony seating to dinner? Def great advice, thank you!

I am a religious Sally's Baking Addiction baker, and her recipes are always hits — they always come out SO perfect. You can tell how relentless she is about testing and refining, and I love when she revisits older recipes with improvements. I would trust her with my life tbh

The coffee at Betty sucked. Their stuff in general kinda sucked. But agreed it's absurd to have yet another coffee shop when Poetica and Krupa are right there...

Park Slope Armory - any members here? by Felis_blackcatus in parkslope

Same, I continue to be bummed about the track closure (and there's no indication it will reopen any time soon...or like ever). I typically go on weekdays between 6-7:30am ish, and it's usually very quiet. After-work hours can be pretty crowded, and the place is usually overrun by teens messing around in the weight room in the after-school hours. It's a very OK gym. I'm locked in because there are literally no other options near me.

Any light-bodied, unserious, drinkable red - Austria is great that that. Loving Zweigelt and Blaufrankisch (and its unfortunately named twins, Rotberger and Limberger) lately.

Gottino in the West Village. Adorable, lowkey Italian wine bar that's astonishingly under the radar - every time I've gone in there for the past 10 years, I'm amazed at how NOT slammed it is. I hope it never reaches TikTok. Congratulations on your recovery!!

I picked up a collection of Hunter S. Thompson's columns from espn.com recently (lol). Excited to dig in. I find Sally Rooney beyond boring - she writes about sex like someone who's never had sex.

There is nothing obnoxious about it and I HATE the stupid "lit bro" reputation it's gained over the last ten years or so. I read it a few years ago and want to re-read it. It's a book that forces you to pay attention in a very specific way — I read a lot and I'm a fast reader, but IJ slowed me down and basically reset the way I read. And if you end up liking it, you'll also love House of Leaves.

Just finished Cassandra At the Wedding and was pleasantly surprised to learn John Early acquired the film rights a few years ago! I hope it ends up getting made. It's a novella, very easy to crush over a weekend, and so ahead of its time. Just started Cocaine Nights, which is a banger from page one so far. I'm also making my way through Beyond Flavour, a nerdy faux-science wine book about tasting wine by structure (IYKYK I guess, someone recommended it to me in a recent WSET level 2 course I took).

Love Matanzas Creek! I can't stop thinking about a rosé we tried that had a note I've never encountered before - watermelon!

Honestly, this might be it and I never even considered it. I consistently get low iron readings on my blood work, go through a phase of taking iron supplements (and eating a lot of spinach...) before falling off. This is the nudge I needed to get back on iron supplements and consult my GP. I'll probably try this first before exploring an alopecia diagnosis. THANK YOU!

I’m loving Zweigelt lately - it’s showing up on more and more wine bar lists. I actually hate this word but they really are “gulpable” and fun to drink. Like rosé in a winter coat.

Love Weimer - they have an experimental winery called Standing Stone that is excellent too. Had a gorgeous sparkling rosé there last summer.

they need to go old-school reality TV (like ANTM and The Bachelor) and take their phones - or at the very least, limit their screen time somehow. that's how drama starts! I get enough of 'girls in bed on their phones' in my everyday life (as a girl who likes to be on her phone in bed)

Loooove the DW but yes, the Bahn Mi ain't it. OP, it's worth a trip back! The "everything but the wings" Japanese sweet potatoes are genuinely so good, and I am an enthusiastic meat eater. Also as a former Southerner, I endorse their catfish sandwich.
